Yeah. We had crazy wind here yesterday (I'm in MD) but it's worse today. It keeps cutting the power off here at work. They just did an announcement over the PA system and apparently they're cutting off a bunch of the servers to prevent more damage to them.
This means I seriously do have nothing to do today here at work except look at the intarwebs, as my work email box and work files are inaccessible. I wish they'd send us home since we can't do anything. :(

How fast is it gusting?
Its always windy where I live. I like it though, because Chinooks take the snow away.

That ought to be about right Tinykoko. What you guys are seeing is the leftovers of the super strong low level jet that drove that severe weather outbreak over the last few days. Absolutely fascinating from a meteorology perspective. :D

I'm in Jersey too...it keeps blowing open my bay window.
But on the bright side, at least the temperature is pretty mild today. Digits in the teens combined with this wind would have made things a lot worse. Of course, the wind is the cold front coming through, so it's going to be colder tonight.

It's been knocking the power out all day here. The wind can stop any time now. It has outstayed its welcome.

Yeah, but 5:30am with no power and no tiredness makes for a boring start to the day. Except for the "trying to find a flashlight" part. That was fun.

Argh, power went out AGAIN at work a little while ago. I decided if it goes out again I'm going home.
...watch it not go out anymore to spite me.

Haha. A weird note on the power going on-and-off earlier. I sat down in this one chair in the kitchen after the power being out for around an hour and it came back on instantly. Later on I was walking around for a while, then I happened to sit back down in the same chair and the power went out again. It's been such a weird day.

I think you might have inadvertantly discovered that your chair (or your butt) is the cause of the power outages.

Must be. Magnet, you're not allowed to sit down anymore. You must stand for the rest of the day. :p

I'm getting the crazy wind to. I'm in the suburbs. So I'm about an hour and 10 minutes north of you. The wind is 25-35 mph with gusts up to 50. It's pretty crazy outside.

Kind of. It was worse the other day. We had gusts up to 45 MPH on Tuesday.

It's a little windy here (southeast Virginia) but not house-shaking, knocking-trees-over, losing-power windy. Sucks for you guys.

I always forget how close to my hometown you live Seinman, then have the shocking realization that I'm not the only Virginian here (not counting M00P).

There are a lot more Virginians than I expected, seeing as most people in these parts are rednecks and don't know anything about video games (or more accurately, don't know anything about everything that isn't Bud Light). Check out the Hampton Roads thread (http://www.rockband.com/forums/showthread.php?t=104458), there's several people in there just from around me, and I know there's a NOVA/DC thread floating around too with even more Virginians in it.

Yeah, I saw both of those, but I'm from the Petersburg area. There is even less going down there. Colonial Heights, Matoaca, and Hopewell may be able to get enough gamers to fill a room, but those aren't communities that really play well with others. Most the gamers in those areas would also rather play Halo anyway, so I don't mind not getting big get-togethers there. Charlotte's not bad for a change of pace, but most of the RB nights down here are in 21 and up bars, and I'm still a year and a half from having that particular barrier taken care of.

The wind didn't seem to be so strong around here in FFX, but it did get a bit treacherous trying to keep my car on 495 while driving to work this morning :|
I think gusts reached up to 30mph, here. Weather.com says the wind is at 26mph right now so that still might make for an entertaining drive home.
