Question on notes...

On hard, sometimes there are these smaller notes....they are half the width of a regular note....what does that indicate? Do you play them any different?

They are hammer-ons or pull offs. That means you strum the last big note then you can just hit those without strumming. It is explained better in the tutorial mode in the game.
