View Full Version : Forums Timezones are messed up

For some reason I have to put myself to GMT +5, even though I'm in GMT -5 (eastern) in order for the times to be correct.
Can someone please look into that? Should be a rather easy setting on the forum settings.

Most message board CGI's by default pick up the time from the OS of the server they're running on.
Even if that's adjusted to a different offset within the message board configuration, it's still going to be based on an offset of the time zone the OS is set to use. That's most likely where the issue lies here.

Ah...I was going to start this thread if it hadn't already been started. Is this really difficult to fix?

Yeah, the forum's time zones are screwed up. I'm at GMT -6, but the forum is displaying the time as if I'm at GMT +6. Rock Band appears to be confused on the direction the earth rotates.
This has nothing to do with your operating system. Rock Band is not getting the info from your OS, it specifically asks for your time zone when you register. Even if it was getting the info from your OS, what are the odds that your OS would give the exact opposite time zone (+ #, instead of - #)?

No, it should be extremely simple actually. Either the server's time and/or zone are set up incorrectly, or the message board software running on the server is misconfigured.
In either case, cake to fix by whoever is responsible for these forums.
