Oh, and if other genres of music are planned for either DLC or an full game. (ie. grunge, country, emo...etc).

Please ask him if there is currently is, or will in the future be, a code to disable the 3-strikes-and-you-fail thing so we can still play with those who may be of lesser skill. Completely fine to disable saving or score tracking or whatever to be fair to all, but we're currently excluding a certain segment of the possible audience.

Alternatively, I'd settle for a multiplayer practice option. Would still prefer to be playing in front of a crowd, but if it's multiplayer practice mode or nothing, I'll take practice.

Also, would be great to know if we're going to see any albums for DLC before the end of the year. Once upon a time it was stated that Who's Next was going to be out within one week of launch and since that didn't happen, I'd be curious to know if there's a schedule for the albums yet. Don't need specifics, just whether or not we'll see any of them before the end of the year. Very likely won't get an answer out of him for that one, but doesn't hurt to ask. :)

That's a bit disheartening since it's what about half of all the posts on these boards are about; either faulty, poorly made instruments or the poor customer service. Just to be clear, my instruments are working flawlessly...just lucky I guess.

Well, if we can't ask questions directly relating to the instruments, can we ask when or if there will be a statement regarding the instruments. I think it's deserved.

Now that they are likely brainstorming Rock Band 2 or some other iteration, are there any new gameplay elements they would like to try out? Perhaps new instruments, different genres, or "offstage" story type band experiences like progressing with music labels, recording albums, "backstage", radio hits, etc.

Do they plan on letting us know the DLC schedule ahead of time. Like maybe always knowing what's coming within a month. Like they are doing now. Or will it just be a surprise after the initial content?

Do they plan on making a patch, allowing us to tie the leader of the band to our gamertag instead of the character so we can change instruments?

Actually, AFAIK it's up to EA and Activision working together to enable full compatibility across all the games. I don't think it's got anything to do with Sony atall.

In any case, my point is that this guy's gonna know more about the situation than the rest of us, and since we've all been kept squarely in the dark on this issue, that makes it very much worth asking.

Around E3 time there was a rumor I heard that the only reason there were covers in the game was because the master tracks couldn't be found. Is this true for the music that is on the disc of the game, and if so, is it also true of downloadable content?

I can answer that one for you, it's actually something I chatted with John Drake about, but not while we were doing the actual interview.

It is true that Harmonix only put in cover songs in instances where the original masters either could not be obtained, or were too badly damaged to use. The only exception to this would be a song that they absolutely *had* to have in the game, but the artist would only allow a cover. He declined to comment on whether or not this was the case in any songs currently in the game.

while I agree that you should be allowed to enjoy easy, this question is fairly obvious. unlike guitar, where you can remap a lot of notes or simpley ignore them, on teh drums changing the bass pedal to say the red drum would be pretty odd. also, from the few time i've seen the drums on easy the pedal was RARELY used. trust me in saying you want the practice of using the pedal now. It's ok to want to learn on easy, but to simplify it to 3 pads would be pointless,boring, and absurd.

If you want to play drums without the kick pedal, then go play the song on practice mode, ignore the kick and stop your whining.

There is nothing wrong with the game's difficulty. It goes from extremely easy (vocals and guitar on easy are a joke) to you-are-basically-performing-the-song (vocals and drums on expert).

If you can't hack the drums on easy then your problem is that you have no rhythm or timing. This isn't HMX's problem... this is *your* problem.

Practice (like real musicians do when they suck), or stop playing the drums and gtfo.

Well, it definately seems like Harmonix has got enough clout, so that mostly the days of covering songs because the masters couldn't be obtained are over. This is probably the case with the David Bowie DLC, in that Heroes and Queen ***** masters could not be found or used so they covered it, while Moonage Daydream's master was fine to use. Though, I am convinced that Black Sabbath masters seem to not exist because in every game that has Black Sabbath it is a cover, and I seriously doubt that they are requiring covers.

For that matter it does seem odd that an artist would require a cover, instead of the real thing. What do you think would be the reason(s) for that?
