Well they did say 100+ downloads over the course of the year before, but new songs every week? Thats just too good to be true! This game is very, very promising, I just hope the downloads aren't too expensive, or I'm going to need to find a way to make more money!

There was talk of lots of downloadable content for GH11 when that came out. In fact, it was almost certain that all the GH1 songs would be available, some on the day of release.
No of songs available on day of realase = 0
Songs available now = 3 packs (10 songs)
Utter rubbish, GH11 came out and all the companies lost interest, on to the next project.

Actually, according to Wikipedia, they just released another pack of GH1 songs today.
This announcement puts Guitar Hero 2's 4 packs of songs to shame. 100 songs in the first year and weekly releases means about 2 new songs per week.
Hell yeah.

i'm not too excited about that news since that's WAY into the future. For all we know DLC is only released once and never again

Listen to the interview. That isn't what he said. He said that they would be releasing NEW SONGS EVERY WEEK from the week of release on. They are already setting this up and getting it ready for launch.
And remember, while im sure most of us do like GH as well, they are two different things now and you can't judge by what the GH people are doing.
And as they stated before there will likely be at least 100 downloadable songs over the course of the year, and yes if they stick to every week, that could mean two songs a week.
And he even hinted that these won't be silly songs. he said alot of the bonus songs that they are securing could have easily been in the main game.

I'm under the impression rock band isnt the type of game where you just pump out sequel after sequel. Instead we'll see continued support for the original game. think of it as any type of game with a community....like WoW. developers constantly have to create new content to please the rabid fans who always play and have developed a unique sense of community.

That is what I'm hoping for, but I believe in an interview, Alex was talking about cool ideas they had for Rock Band 2

It was made by someone from Harmonix in the same interview that the 15 songs were confirmed to be annouced and The Strokes and QOTSA were also confirmed. It was aired on G4 i believe as part of their E3 coverage and its floating around the web.

Amazing
"new songs released every week for download and that the title will be the first to offer full-length albums as part of its game."
Full albums?! YES I cannot wait, that is going to be reallly impressive, and 2 songs a week, they certainly have their work cut our for them, but when they pull it off, it's going to be amazing!

This is amazing. we need to get some opeth on there =).
but this is the only game I will ever need to play.
Aside from full albums please let us download each song individually for a fair price and also have bundles available (NO 3-SONG PACKS), what I mean is like.. every song individually.. then full albums for a discount (you can still only purchase certain songs if you want) and weekly bundles for a discount (all the songs that week for say.. 80% of the price of buying them individually).
it's gonna RULE!!!

Well the drum kit is miles better than I'd thought it would be... I am so convincing my mate to get drums so I can play guitar with him whils't drunk.

According to IGN anyway, it's going to be 2 songs a week.. so at the most it'd be a 2 song pack.. getting one crap song is better than 2 anyway :D
My hunch is that there might even be some free ones since they're also looking to get exposure for upcoming bands

See what i mean guys (and girls?)? Who cares about the 15 songs? That was after all inevitable that we'd be hearing that soon.
This stuff is way more exciting than that and nobody seemed to really pay much attention to it!
