Problem With Sound Going Out On My Receiver

it seems when i have a multiplayer session going on and one of the players can't keep up and kicks out he takes the sound with him. my receiver just turns off. someone has to jump on the remote and turn it back on so we can all hear what we're playing. any ideas?

i have optical cable from ps3 to receiver
receiver is an ONKYO TX-SR504

i have the game option for Dolby Digital on

anybody else having this issue???
