You mean there aren't Christians or Jews in Europe who celebrate Christmas/Hannukah in November/December?

:)

It's the politically correct way to say Christmas.

"Christmas" is "offensive"

Why is saying christmas offensive.

Huskie

Means just saying Christmas is now considered offensive here.
Lawsuits if there is only a Christmas tree on a government building/property.

I dunno. Ask the people who get pissed when they see a "Merry Christmas" banner hanging in a store and petition to have it removed because they are not Christian.
And it is "offensive" to them.

Personally I couldn't give a crap. I still say "Merry Christmas" because politically correct I deffinately am not.

Anyway...that is what's behind all this "Coming this Holiday" crap. Out of fear of offending groups of people who do not believe in Christmas. It basically covers everyone.

Not really. It means that we are coming out within the traditional holiday quarter which generally starts around Columbus Day (the holiday that I'm offended by) and goes until about Christmas or New Year's depending on weekends and the like.

It's not that it's offensive, it's just too specific. That's why the UN has to abolished all religious holidays in favor of a new non-offensive, all-inclusive holiday... Snowflake Day

Haha.

I wasn't directing this towards Harmonix, you, or Rock Band. I'm pretty sure you never even thought of it that way.

I was only pointing out that there is a politically correct mentality going on in this country out of fear of offending people. :p

And that is why you rarely see "Merry Christmas" any more and it's turned into just "Holiday"

Snowflake Day is cool but what about the people in the tropics?
That's not fair to them at all.

In the PC age, it takes far too long to say something nice with having to make sure you're not going to offend someone.

I'm still trying to figure out how Columbus Day is offensive. Is your middle name "Crazy Horse" Sean?

Yeah. But the only person I'll be purchasing presents for this year is myself. :D

"Crazy Horse" Hahahaha... This thread is making me laugh.

Yeah. You can't even open a door for a woman any more without it being "sexist" So instead of being labeled that. I just let it slam in their face.

Yeah I spose, but it's still a kick-ass holiday. I live in South Australia which is apparently the dry state of the driest continent of the world (clever wording probably making it sound worse than it is) But yeah, never seen a single snow flake in my life.

Yeah it's a merry Christmas in Australia too (yes freakonate even in 107 degree heat)

Australia has a lot of diversity, not much racism and also very little religion compared to other countires. We still all love Christmas though. Even if you despise christianity (like myself), xmas is still a cool time to hang out with family, drink a few beers and finally get that second wireless guitar you couldn't afford on release.

The saying "holiday season" also works pretty good here because it's when school/uni is over for the year and we go on 2 month summer vacation, or as it's more commonly known "school holidays".

Crazy Horse? American Indians aren't the same as Aztecs, Incas, and Mayans. Furthermore, Columbus mostly explored islands, like Trinidad and Tobago, Cuba, the Dominican Republic, the Bahamas, and the Virgin Islands.

We celebrate a guy who accidentally ran aground on a previously unsettled-by-European-colonizers continent. Then the European colonizers raped, pillaged, and diseased the Central American peoples en route to conquest. We celebrate that, and that's why it's offensive.

Oh man, watch out.. Pissed off Columbus hater. Wouldn't be suprised if Amerigo Vespucci was brought up in about 2 posts.

Holiday season is such a funny thing in the game industry. Developers will rush or delay thier game accordingly just so it has shelf time during the consumer orgasm known as "Christ"mas. It made me sick. I don't care if it comes out on flag day, just gimme the damn game.

Do you hate your parents as well? Your post, picture and user name all scream 'angsty' ;)

I'm from Australia too and Christmas is a grand old time here. We don't have any of the cultural BS you Americans have :) . Christmas for us is getting together with friends and family to have a pissup and eat way too much food. That said, I'm not convinced we'll see a release the same time as the US folk. We're normally like three months or so behind the rest of the developed world and then get the distinct pleasure of paying twice as much for the same thing

w00t culture war!

im american and personally celebrate christmas in no religious way. perhaps im australian.

the problem is, many people here make such a fuss about "christians being oppressed" which is retarted, as they make up more than 3/4 of our population. hence why i wish to move to canada.

It's just to scare people (defense mechanism) I'm actually a massive nerd.

Ever worked retail in the states during Christmas?

If it's just Americans who are blatant consumer sheeple, programmed monkey/see monkey buy, I'm only worth what I own/I am my possesions types, perhaps I should move.

/endrant

Sorry, Christmas here is nothing of what it should be. Celebrating the birth of The Saviour Jesus Christ. It has been totally bastardized by corporate gluttony.
