This is a thread to report on albums of this year, be it new ones you've procured, one's you're looking forward to, ones you still need to buy that have been released and info on upcoming albums.

The only one I've picked up so far has been Napalm Death's latest effort, Time Waits For No Slave, which I just bought today and am listening to now. I think it is pretty damn good. Looking at it side by side with Scum, it is definitely a much more mature sound. On the other hand, as it has been for a while, there are no original members in the band. Still a nice album. Only about halfway through at the moment.

I'm still looking to get the new albums from 16 and Tombs. I've heard great things about both, particularly the latter.

The only two albums I've bought this year were P.O.S.'s- Never Better and A Day to Remember's Homesick. They were both great. I would give them these grades.

P.O.S.- Never Better- 9.5/10 (Best Hip-Hop album I've ever heard)

A Day to Remember- Homesick- 8/10 (Very solid release. Great if you like metalcore and pop-punk working together)

I've gotten 4 new records so far this year:

Heartless Bastards, The Mountain (my fave so far, it's like a rock and roll lone justice)
Goblin Cock, Come with me if you want to live (It's growing on me, very fun and very heavy)
The Pains of Being Pure at Heart, Self-titled (great debut, very dream poppy yet punk-ish at the same time.)
Lily Allen, it's not me, it's you (I haven't listened to it much, but it doesn't grab me as much as her first record. It's def more adventurous, though.

Nine Inch Nails

You're going to be waiting a long time for that one (http://www.pitchforkmedia.com/article/news/149194-trent-reznor-announces-possible-end-of-nine-inch-nails-tour-with-janes-addiction)

The good albums I've listened to so far this year are:

Franz Ferdinand - Tonight
Animal Collective - Merriweather Post Pavilion
The Lonely Island - Incredibad
Andrew Bird - Noble Beast

This year isn't shaping up so well.

Im waiting for quite a few upcoming albums, but I'm mostly interested in the new Baroness. I loved The Red Album and have anxiously awaited the follow-up.

Still waiting on the Team Dresch album that was meant to be out last year!

Emmy the Great's debut entirely side-stepped the promise she had in demos though, something I was not best pleased with. I might return to that and give it another try.

I've still been meaning to pick that up. Need... more... money...

Also, I'm excited for new Yob and Skeletonwitch. There's a lot more I'm looking forward to, though not as much. This looks like it will be a great year, though.

The new Green Day album is supposedly like The Who.

I listened to a supposed leak of part of a song, and it's got a Who atmosphere there at least.

Maybe the new Skillet album, but I'd have to think about it more

I'm looking forward to No Line On The Horizon by U2.

I'm also looking forward to albums from the following artists (album titles are unknown) -

Tool

Has Tool announced a new CD coming out this year? O_o I haven't heard anything, and given their trend sicne 1996 I wasn't expecting anything for at least another year or two. But I guess with APC gone Maynard does have more time. So, I guess that's one album I'm looking forward to.

I'm also looking forward to new releases from Muse, assuming it actually comes out this year. Sufjan Stevens if he gets off his lazy ass and releases something will be very exciting, too. The scene kid in me is waiting for new releases from My Chemical Romance and The Used. Of course, these are all tenative releases.

Right now, I'm very excited for Crack the Skye by Mastodon. I'm kind of nervous that they'll take the "Colony of Birchmen" approach for the entire CD, which, the song was awesome, and so is Divinations. But we need moar Leviathan.

I also have a giant pool of new music to sift through thanks to Gowie, so I'm sure I'll find something else within the next couple days, but it will probably be something that only like, 5 people here know because he's almost as crazy as afterstasis.

I'm excited for a lot of albums coming out this year. Mastodon and U2 stand out the most.

The only '09 album I've picked up was The Empyrean by John Frusciante, which I reviewed in the album reviews section. To summarize that: I love it, check it out.

Typically, I'm too busy listening to old stuff to check out new releases (I usually listen to new things about a year after they come out), but I'm definitely looking forward to Crack the Skye, and I'm planning on checking out Megasus' album soon.

Yeah, but we still may see one more album. In an interview he did in December he said he would like to get an album out sometime in the Spring.

21st Century Breakdown- Green Day
Chevelle's new CD (Hopefully it will come out in 2009)
Aerosmith's new CD (Again, hopefully in 2009)
Serj Tankian's new CD (I doubt it will be released in 2009, but you never know)
And if it is true that Tool will release another CD this year, I am also looking forward to that. Same with Nine Inch Nails.

In that case don't be put off by my less than enthusiastic response to the Morrissey cd. I know its gotten some pretty good reviews. It just feels a bit like he's going through the motions to me. But I had the same reaction to the last two he put out, and my opinion changed after a few listens.

Looks REALLY promising. I just hope it happens in the latter half of '09 rather than '10. Or maybe '10 would be better if it gives them more time to polish it.

21st century Breakdown, and the new Tool album are up first. I'm also looking forward to Crack the Skye, and if U2's new album is anything like the first single, I might pick it up.

As far as unconfirmed albums go, Flight of the Conchords II, which is supposed to come out in April, but they delayed the first one for about six months, so I'm not holding my breath. Also, there is a huge rumor about new Weezer, but the rumor is it's either going to be new material produced by Jacknife Lee(who produced the best songs on the red album) or a dump album called Odds and Ends, and the guitarist with the emover stated they aren't going into the studio anytime soon.

If its true about new Tool, than I'm looking forward to that as well :D Also, if there's any new Lostprophets coming out this year that would be sweet, but I haven't looked into it too much recently

The ToolBand.com website had posted last month that Tool was going back into the recording studio to start on a new album. I wouldn't expect it until sometime next year though. 10,000 Days was being edited and mixed for around 7-9 months after they spent 4-6 months recording it.

Only album I know of I'm looking forward to this here is Lacuna Coil's Shallow Life which comes out in April. The first song off the album, Spellbound, can be heard on their Myspace page (http://www.myspace.com/lacunacoil). I like it, it sounds more like their older stuff (pre-Comalies, except for the male singer).
