Now, I know I imported it, but I imported it from a US retailer and that is not illegal. I don't know about US consumer law so I will assume what people say about you/EA not having to honour guarantees outside the US is true, but surely you have a moral obligation to provide us with working hardware if not a legal obligation.

You have admitted that there is a design flaw with the early guitars, I cannot simply stop using it and use another guitar because I have a PS3. I am happy to pay shipping costs (although I am not sure, morally, that I should need to) but at the moment I have no way to exchange my guitar for one of the new designs.

Please try to help us Europeans as a gesture of goodwill. I trusted that you would produce a great game which you have, with working hardware, which you have not done. I am impressed that you have come oout and acknowledged the problem; now, please, go that extra mile and acknowledge that we have just as much right to a working guitar as anyone else.

PS please, fellow forumites, do not fill this thread with "you should not have imported it etc" I am not contesting that, just asking for some compassion from the guys at Harmonix.

Compassion? How about patience. You should have waited until it was released, in your region, hence now you have to wait until it is released there for the warranty, replacement you want. They have a moral obligation? How about your your moral obligation to wait for the OFFICAL release date in your area?

It is ridiculous to think that a company would set up release dates, and then allow impatient people who do not know how to wait, use the policies, set forth for those that honored the timelines.....

Didn't bother reading the last part of my post then? What are youi talking about. You seem to thing that I have commited some henious crime by buying the game from a US store.

Honestly you come across as a bit of a fool in this post, I am sure plenty of people from the US would have imported the game from the UK if the situation was reversed and they had to wait till March. I am making no demands on Harmonix just requesting that they allow me to ship my guitar back, at my expense. You obviously feel this is some sort of attack on Harmonix and the good ol' US of A which it is not.

I really don't blame them for not covering warranties overseas.

They would lose a ton of money shipping to Europe, which is why they put the policy in place.

Once it comes out in Europe, there will be a warranty center set up over there to handle the same issues.

Maybe, problem is my guitar will be out of warranty by then I suspect. As I said I would be willing to pay shipping costs, here is hoping for a patch to let me use a guitar I can buy in the UK in the mean time.

That is true it will be out of warranty, which is a valid reason for Europe buyers to be worried. Your best bet would be a homebrew fix.

However, the support page does not check whatsoever if your product is actually in warranty.

Welcome to the hazards of importing.

Yep, if harmonix would come out and say that they will exchange my guitar when they release it in the UK that would be fine. But as for patience: I would love to have some and I want it now ;)

NO no I read your post, just tired of hearing from people who imported their game, and think they deserve the same rights that those of us who actually bought it when released in OUR area. Well, its too bad for you, your the impatient one who bought it in an area where it as not released, now, you have to pay the price for lack of piatence. As, for compassion, when it is released in your area, then I am sure the warranty on any products purchased, within the 60 days from release there will be honored.

So it is actually you who are the fool to import the game overseas...:p
