It is a lot of fun to sing and play guitar or sing and drum at the same time. It brings in a whole new element into the game that you wouldnt ever see unless you try it out yourself. Plus, if you only have two people, you really feel more like a band when you have vocals, drums and guitar going. Anyone else try this yet?

No Queen In the top 150 i think its just a LITTLE flawed when Dr Dre comes before queen in anything

I just bought a mic stand last night - and yeah, it's awesome (and hard!). I can handle both vocals and guitar when both are on Medium, but past that it's very difficult and my scores suffer. It's a cool 'new' challenge though and just adds to an already incredible game.

I just picked one up from Radioshack for $25 and will try it later. They also had a boom add-on for $15 which I can see needed for using when playing drums.

I picked up mine from Best Buy - stand w/ boom arm for $30. Works great and yes, you'll need the boom for playing drums.

he was posting some thoughts from another thread. lol. I thought it was funny too. I have been playing on medium mic and expert guitar and its a lot of fun. I can only medium mic and medium drum though.

I tried doing medium vocals, hard drums last night. It was fricking impossible, but fun. I really need to get mic stand, as my little set up was quite uncomfortable.
which mic stand did you buy?

Nothing special, but gets the job done. Comes with a mic clip and everything (including boom) is fully adjustable.

I'm making a chrome mic stand out of chain. It's going to be awsome! ROCK ON!

I held off on getting a mic stand right away, so I ended up taking a DVD tower, and putting the microphone on top of that, and it was roughly the right height to sit in a chair and sing/play guitar. It worked well enough to get through the Endless Setlist, but vocals can be pretty hard when you don't know the songs (like all of the bonus songs).

A boom stand has a hinge to it, compared to your typical one you think of that is basically a straight pole. It helps when playing instruments, because you don't have to be close to the base of the stand, and it instead "reaches" to you, sort of. Think of it as looking like an upside down L.

yeah, my buddy is in a real band and he had an old one that he donated. It is a peice of crap that needs to be duct taped, but that makes it all the better! I love it because i really only have one die hard RB friend, but we can now play 3 instruments. I got 97% on drums (medium) and 100% on vocals (medium) on My Sharona. I love multi-tasking!

The product description says the height is adjustable to 62 inches. I am 76 inches tall. Would I be able to use this thing?

So the mic fits perfect in that stand from Best Buy? Did you order it or pick it up from the store? I'm gonna try to get that one I think.

Do you have to use a mic stand, or can you use the wireless headset that comes with the 360? I thought you were supposed to be able to do that?

I turned mic sensitivity to max and put the microphone in my front shirt pocket... very effective and cheaper than having a mic stand. :D

I'm amazed that works. Don't you pick up ambient noise?

I actually had it slung over my shoulder before I got a mic stand lol I also had the sensitivity way up, but no, it didn't really pick up other noise. Then again, it was just me playing guitar and singing. Perhaps drums would interfere...

I could swear that I read that somewhere as well... I haven't tried figuring out how to use it, but I'm almost positive that it's possible.

I find that it's easier to put the lyrics in "static" mode becuase then you can read them easier when trying to play and instrument and sing at the same time. Play the song enough and you'll just remember them and won't even need to pay attention to them until a song comes up you aren't really familiar with.

You need to use the regular controller and select a different character as the singer. Plug the headset into the controller, and it will work as a mic. Make sure the regular mic isn't connected to the 360. This is what I've been doing while waiting for a mic stand.

Hey, thanks for the link. I just printed it out and put it on my wife's dressing table as a not-very subtle hint for Christmas.
Can't remember the last time I got a gaming peripheral of any kind for $30. Good call!

I was really hoping Rock Band would come out with an official Rock Band Mic Stand but instead of waiting forever to see if they do I finally picked up a mic stand from Best Buy, the one everyone has been talking about. It works good, the clip is a little hard to get the mic into but once it's in it holds it very tight and it won't fall out even if you happen to knock the stand over.
It was about $20 and if you still don't have one I'd get that one because it also works with drums so you can do whatever you chose.

YESSSS!!! I can finally do my Tenacious D 'end of song' homage/impression.
Thanks for the info!

I've been playing guitar and doing vocals for a while now, it really is a lot of fun. I started to teach my gf how to play the bass in the game, and like the OP said, it's a lot more like a real band.
Then again, I'm in a real band, playing guitar and doing vocals, so I guess it's just a more familiar atmosphere for me.
