The real issue is that they all have the corporate logo on them. Why would I pay to advertise their website?

Looks nice and all, but yah, try to sell me something without sticking your name all over it - I'm paying.

Not a big fan of the logo, either, but I do like that they skin it all the way up the neck.

Also, if you didn't see, they have skins for the drums, too.

Hope they're saving their pennies for lawyers. Edward Van Halen has that stripe pattern trademarked.

That was my issue too. I don't the company's name all over my guitar, I just want the design. Also, none of the pics on the website are of the skins in aciton, they're all digital representations. I want to see how it actually looks on the edges of the guitar and such...

im wondering how easy it is to remove these and if you can re use them afterwards because if your strat craps out again you have to remove the skin.

Last week I wrote to the company regarding their huge logo 'issue' and the rep was fairly kind is saying that things have been tossed around for future releases. Instead of complaining here, if you're really interested in purchasing them in the future, please help 'campaign' and write to their customer service. From my experience, they've been very responsive.

I still think whoever buys that should just buy a real guitar...

They are 'real'. The company buys a peavey, modifies it, and paints it.

Hello All,

This is Matt from Gh skinz. I just wanted to address some of the issues with our guitar skinz and let you know what we are doing to improve our products.

1. Your absolutely right about the logo. We love our logo and im guessing that had some influence on our decision to put it on the guitar. We are taking our logo off the skinz and are going to include an extra GH skinz.com sticker with every order.

2. Pricey? Maybe but, the quality of our skinz is the best hands down. We use air release vinyl (same stuff they use on vehicle wraps) and laminate all our skinz with a very durable laminate.

3. Opening the guitar for repairs? Our skinz do not interfere with opening the guitar for repairs. My guitar broke the very first day i bought rock band. I was able to open the guitar without any problems.

We really do appreciate all comments on how to improve our product.
Thanks again,
Matt

I laughed my ass off following that link and reading "one of a kind custom painted" and then seeing that the necks all have the exact same paint job detailing on them.

EDIT: Okay... so I'm seeing that these are real guitars modified as game controllers. That would explain the neck. It hadn't occurred to me that anyone would spend money on modding a guitar to be a game controller.

That company should buy cheaper guitars so the price won't be so high.

Anyway, just to give an update on the durability of the GH Skinz, I have been using the guitar and the drum skins for about 2 weeks and they are both holding up great. They both look like the day I bought them. :D

The photo up there of the skin actually in use on a RB Strat is very impressive, I was expecting nice, but this is VERY nice.

...which is good, because I'm having them make a custom skin for me, and it's coming along great. I'll post pictures once I have it here and installed.

How are you getting them to make a custom skin for you?

FlyinWhee
12-07-2007, 01:37 AM
They clearly say on their site that they do custom work. So I contacted them, asked them how much, we discussed the design, they game me a quote. Went into production, seen a first draft, ask for small modifications, and once that's done they ship.

...you know, like, when you get custom work done.

[edit] I have to add that they've been a pleasure to work with, very friendly. They work quickly, and the results are excellent so far. And their prices, especially for custom work, are extremely reasonable.

How much did they cost?

FlyinWhee

Well I'm not at liberty to say - given its custom work, and it will vary from a job to another, I guess. And I don't want to them to have to deal with "But that guy said he paid XX$ !!"

But given the price of an actual print is 15$, I'll just say I paid little more than that to have the design made. But your best bet is of course to ask for a quote, They answer very quickly, so give them a shot!
