how come i always get to pick the songs when i play online band? i always feel bad that no else gets to choose ;)

also is there any way to talk on the mic and play drums?

You can plug in your XBL headset into the drum controller just below the buttons.

The reason why you get to pick the songs is because you're the leader. You can go to random song or just ask the other players what they want to play.

How can I join an online gig without being the leader?

go into band quickplay or whatever it is you do (tug o' war/scoreduel etc.) online and pick you character, hit find players, THEN quickly scroll down to wait/waitng and click that...that will make someone else leader :)
