I've already put in for my replacement, but I was just wondering if this was the typical place that everyone's pedal is breaking at. I'd hate for this to be a rare case and them keep my $125!!

mine broke lower, near the base of the pedal, on the other side of the spring.

Mine broke there... in the middle of the endless setlist. Got a steel plate and held it together for the rest of the night. I'll be sending my pedal back in soon.

Good thing i baby my equipment and also since i work in a metal shop, i'll be making a 1/16 or an 1/8 piece of metal and make it the same patter as the pedal, thus ensuring a metal backing all the way around the bottom of the pedal, plus i have some other ideas for other things

Yeah, I'm thinkin of getting a metal plate for the pedal when it comes out here in Canadia. But I'm just gonna tape it on instead of screwing it so I don't void any warrenty.

Mine snapped in half in exactly the same place. What's worse, is I've examined three other kick pedals and EACH of them has a hairline crack forming on the sides within 3/4" of the exact same spot mine did. I don't know if it's because we all bought them from the same batch or if this is because they're all like this.
They haven't cracked yet, but if I pressed my thumb down on that spot hard...I'll bet it would snap right in half. None of my friends wants me to try that, understandably.
IMHO, it's a very poorly designed place for a pressure point, and these will eventually break on every one of their pedals, unless you keep your foot perfectly centered and weight perfectly distributed during every song. The second you play a song a little more difficult than you're used to....that might be a little harder to do. Mine happened to snap during a medium song I had played a dozen times before....and I've been waiting for my replacement ever since. It seems like it's been forever and still no word from EA. :(

I'm gonna use the factory screws that hold the orange part of the pedal then i wont have a void of warranty :D
