I posted a question to EA on their website today to try and get this figured out... this is what I asked... "I keep getting the error message, "Disk Unreadable." The CD is not scratched and this only happens at certain times. Please help. Thanks."

.... a couple of hours later I get this response....

Hello Andrew,

Thank you for contacting Electronic Arts Technical Support.

I understand that your disk is getting a 'disk unreadable' error message sometimes. There is a way to replace the game without having to buy a new copy, although you will still have to pay a fee for the replacement disk. We will be needing the following:

* Unreadable disk
* Explanation of your situation
* First and Last Name
* Return Address
* E-mail Address (Note: If this is not included it will make it difficult to determine the status of your request.)
* Phone Number

Along with:
* !!!!Replacement Disk: US$20.00/disk!!!!!

Mailing Address:

... how in the hell are they going to charge me $20 for a new disk... this blows my mind... someone tell me something because I'm freaking out...

I would try calling their tech support... if the disc is not scratched, and yet won't play, they should obviously replace it free of charge.

Return and exchange it from where you bought it. That'll be quicker. If it's out of stock, then I'd still rather just return it and get a new copy later than deal with having to pay an extra $20 to get a replacement for a faulty disk.

Well... it plays fine 75% of the time, but it shouldn't have a problem at all. My problem is the $20... at least Bungie replaced the messed up Halo 3 disks for free. There is no scratch on the disk which most likely means its a software glitch not a disk malfunction. I don't want to be charged extra for something that they missed or screwed up.

I called the Gamestop I purchased the bundle from and they told me I would have to retuen the whole bundle. Something to do with the computer wouldn't let them just switch out the disk.

That is normal with any retailer to be honest.. When it comes to a manufacturer bundle, retailers online or off do not have "spare parts" to allocate in such instances. This is no different than if you just needed them to switch out a defective guitar when it comes to a bundle.

The game discs being sold for $60 are strictly such in their system, there is no way to switch them out for something for a disc that was never specifically/individually sold (in inventory).

I understood Gamestop and I can't blame them... I'm thinking about taking the whole bundle back and waiting for a new shipment. My fender is busted, the disk is messing up, and the drums are starting to not respond... life sucks...

my strum bar broke (same downstrum bullsh*t) so i contacted stupid ea and they agreed to send that new guitar. So i chose two day express shipping and everything, two weeks later i track the order on the ups website and it hasn't even been shipped yet.

I'm just gonna cancel the order and return everything to Circuit City again, and i'll just check the manufacturing date on the boxes to see if i'll get another one or my money back, you can do a lot with 170 dollars other than purchasing games that don't work....
