Something funny occurred to me tonight...
So my friend came over to rock out tonight. He bought Rock Band as well as me, and he's been practicing like hell on the drums, whereas I'm the guitarist, since I'm Band Leader and all.
So anyway... like most of you, my guitar crapped out a few days ago and I'm still waiting on my new one. And I loooove the Strat and prefer it over any GH controller. Since he's just been focusing on the drums, he hasn't even touched his Strat yet. I asked him to bring his over so I could use it while he plays my drums. It still had the twist-tie on the cord.
So, playing his Strat, I noticed a little difference from mine (for the few days I was able to play it, anyway). The fret buttons felt really different. They were clackier, a tad stickier, and well, loud. Not LOUD loud, but audible. This has never been an issue with my previously Strat, and never with any GH guitar.
It should be noted that my friend's "Born On" date sticker said sometime in September, whereas mine was born in October. So it could just be a matter of a different production runs.
Anybody else notcie this?

They're loud I agree but I don't care. We can't have it all people. Learn to live with the fact that you're playing with plastic.

I love how the new strumbar doesn't make a sound unless strumming up and down really fast but the new fret buttons do make a lot of noise, more than the GH ones do. But whatever, I'm sure they will improve the fret buttons later on and make them better.

A mighty good point, and really not that big a deal either way, but the fact is, MY Strat's buttons were silent, and my friend's Strat's buttons weren't.
Just wondering if this was more widespread or an isolated incident.

Mine aren't noisy at all, so they might be from a later run or just put together better.
Or maybe it's my cat-like precision playing.
One thing to try is pressing the buttons hard to make sure they're fully-seated--not so hard you'll break the thing (because they're apparently made of graham crackers), but enough to see if you can get them properly settled.

I have yet to play a Strat with silent frets.

My sticker says October. My fret buttons are quite loud. Not as loud as the GH strumbars but still pretty loud. I found it kind of odd how they made the strumbar quiet yet made the fret buttons so loud even with light pressing. Still waiting on a replacement guitar because of the strumbar problem. Hopefully the fret buttons are quiet on the new one.

I received my replacement guitar a couple of days ago and the fret buttons are much louder and "clackier" than the previous one. So you're not crazy.....

break them in, since ure friend never touched it, it still has that sticker feel (happens with all new plastic, i think it should go away.

My guitar's frets are loud, but not I can't hear them during the game. I'm waiting on a replacement, and don't care how loud the frets are as long as the strum works.

I just got my replacement guitar and the strum bar seems to be working okay so far, but the top blue fret button is "clacky" and sort of loose...it seems to respond fine, but it is somewhat distracting since the other buttons are rather quiet (as were the buttons on my old strat with the bad strum bar).
I really don't want to go through the whole replacement process again.
