I have a PSP 3000, specifically the silver one that came in the Ratchet and Clank pack. I am having fun with it, but it feels like the power drains so fast in comparison to my DS Lite. Is it possible to buy a bigger battery or something?

Yes, there is an extended capacity battery that Sony sells. I paid $45 for mine, and it comes with a different battery door cover to accommodate the larger battery.

I still think you'll find that the DS gets better battery life, but with the extended capacity battery I'm getting about 7-10 hours of battery life on my 3000.

Yeah, it's a well known fact that PSPs drain batteries alot faster than DSes. I still get about 6 hours out of my 3000 though.

I get about 7 hours on my PSP on a single charge and only 4 hours on my DS (which is newer). Then gain, I only use my PSP for music so the screen is rarely on.

I feel like I only get maybe 5 hours of battery life currently. Granted, I have been playing with the volume up as I'm playing Final Fantasy Tactics and I love that soundtrack. But that pretty much means I need to charge the PSP about every other day with the amount of gaming I do. It's getting annoying. :(

I might get that bigger battery. I'll especially want it starting in June when I'll be spending more time in airports and in airplanes.

The larger batteries are an excellent investment, if you plan on being away from an outlet from a longer period of time.

There's always the option of turning down the light to save battery life.

True. I should do that. I keep my DS Lite down to a lowerish setting and only boost it when I'm in an environment where it's hard to see. Thanks for the reminder on that.

Anytime! I'm rather partial to the brighest setting on mine, because it's a really old model of PSP, so it goes through the battery really fast.

It's funny because even though I call it a portable, I only play it when I'm near an outlet :D

That's how I thought of every portable I owned before the GBA SP. If they took disposable batteries I didn't feel like buying batteries. So I sat by an outlet with the adapter in. Especially when it came to power sucking portables like Game Gear. Game Gear felt like it only got like 2 hours of gameplay on brand new batteries.

Yeah, the Game Gear was terrible with batteries...

I was getting about 5 hours off of the normal PSP battery as well.

Isn't it the UMD drive that is the main power suck?
