i dunno about online..

but as for lag.
the calibration system is amazing. like they said. there is no set up you cant perfectly calibrate. saved the music games for me. i quit gh2 a year ago due to the lag on my tv. he calibration just wouldnt work on my tv. this game. it might take a shot or two. but you can get it as lag free as a CRT. no matter how bad your tv lag is.

Well I'll speak for the ps3...
Online is ok... the menus [if there's any] do what they are supposed to...

The guitar is wireless, but I have encounter NO lag at all.... I owned GH3 and the same No lag issues.... It might be because of my Tv (27" Sharp) or my expensive HDMI cable ($65) :o

The online play is fantastic. Only thing to consider is the drums are new and everybody wants to play them, so it might take a while to find a match online with the drums. Usually 5-10 minutes for a match though. Which sounds long, but typically you will do like 4-5 songs with a group, so that's easily a half hour to an hour, so 5-10 minutes for a match is really no biggy. I've heard it's pretty much the same on 360.

i feel the pain. gh2 (if gh3 has the same set up for calibration) would not work no matter how many times i'd calibrate. so if gh3 follows the same set up. your screwed. some tvs/setups just cant be calibrated properly with that set up.

the rock band one only adds one extra element. but it make a world of difference.

well I don't know how much help I can give you since I have never experience lag issues myself... so I don't really have a valid solution that I have approved...

but i've seen many threads where people say that 32ms [ms? i forget!] works for a vast majority... check out the Gamefaqs forums on GH3 there's a few topics on this

Cheers! ROCK ON!

well im just not sure cause i dont want to spend een more money and then be just as dissapointed can you get a wired controller for the PS3? cause i know thats part of the problem with GH3 is that you cant get a wired one and my experience with wireless is that they lag horribly

well let me ask.. does guitar hero have the one step calibration? where you just strum when the circle hits the little spot provided? if so. then rock band WILL eliminate this lag problem of yours it did for me.

I've tried GH3 for my PS3 in two different configurations: one is an older rear-projection set hooked up with a component cable, the other is a brand new LCD set hooked up with HDMI.

No matter what, the game seems to need calibrating about every fifteen minutes, and exactly the same actions will result in wildly different offset values.

My perspective on all this is that the PS3 version of GH3 is nothing more than a huge load of crap recorded on a Blu-ray disc. If they don't patch RB to allow the Les Paul to work with it (preferably without lag), I will officially declare PS3 GH3 the very worst game I've ever spent money one. It's particularly insulting because of how MUCH money I spent on it.

On the other hand, Rock Band hasn't given me any lag problems at all. For the rear-projection, I've just had to select "Rear Projection TV" and it works great...even though it's wireless.
