Well I finally made the Rolling Stones Rock Immortals List a few days ago, and now I really want to go out and get my platinum stripes for guitar. However, I'd much rather do it with a band to back me up.
I wouldn't be planning on tackling this anytime soon, but to all parties interested, my AIM is ShadowFox3735, G-Mail starfox37@gmail.com, and of course, you can respond to this thread. Or send me a PM.
Between my real band, my solo project, and school, it may be awhile before I get the time to tackle it, so I'd like to have a group of people to be in somewhat close contact with so that when I do get the time to tackle it, I'll have at least some sort of relationship with my bandmates-to-be...If that made any sense. Anyway, reply to this thread, or hit me up on any of the contact information given above.
Look forward to working with you guys.
Regards,

Don't do it online. If one person gets disconnected for whatever reason, all your progress would go down the drain, and you'd just have a "wasted day"

Lots of sad, sad stories about this. >_>
Rule 1: NEVER do it online.

I am already a platinum singer, but I am so addicted to Rock Band that I will find time to do this. If we can, lets do this on Friday because I don't have school that day. I can't do it on Saturday or Sunday however. My friend code is 067363212250. LETS DO THIS!!!!

Actually if you're hosting and someone disconnects, you will (probably) fail the song you're playing, but you can still retry and continue with the setlist. You can still finish the setlist, but you will 1) not get many stars because the cutoff is still based on the guy being there, and 2) fail much more easily because the rock meter won't fill.
If you're not hosting, then yeah, if you disconnect you're out of luck.
I still wouldn't do it either way though.

If you can't do it on your own, you don't deserve the icon.

Listen to the guys that know what they're talking about: doing it online is a big risk you don't want to take.
I have an excellent broadband internet connection and there have been a couple times where for some reason I got disconnected from my band. I don't know why... but it happens...
And think about this: every one of those 4 players must have a perfect connection for 6 hours straight (it's even crazier to do this over multiple days), must be solid enough to not hold you back on songs (imagine one player keeps failing early on a song and prevents you all from passing it), and must not have annoying mothers/wifes/girlfriends who are going to come into the room and pull the plug (literally) on them for sitting there making all that noise all day/night long.
Just keep playing and enjoying the game and one of these days when you're sure you can do it all on your own, just tackle it alone. Like DJ said, that Platinum Icon should mean something - that you're a solid enough expert to pass all those songs on your own.
I think it'd be a better idea to obtain your platinum on your own and then later undertake a full band ESL2 project. That way you might not be too devastated if there's a failed connection somewhere.

I definitely can play every song in the game by myself (as I have), but I don't know if I could honestly sit in front of a TV all by myself for 6 hours straight.
You guys raise a very good point, though. I have a great connection myself and have been randomly disconnected from bands for evidently no reason. I guess I'll just beat it with my brother and a few friends or something. Thanks for the advice, guys.

Wrongo.
D;
If your brother and friends, can't play expert, and the play hard, medium, you're going to get a medium icon.
If you play on expert, and just one plays on hard, the rest expert, you're going to get a gold icon. (Hard).
Just space it out unless you want the golden bladder award. :\
I'm on my second day of doing it on drums.
Just space it o-*Looks at electric bill*

I can't tell you how many times I've seen platinum players fail out on songs like Spoonman and Shackler's Revenge. Pisses me off to no end and makes me wish there was something higher than Platinum just so that I could separate myself from those.

Oh yeah, my brother is moving up to hard. Guess I'll just have to kick him for a few days. The instruments and the system are technically his...D=. I'm sure he'll understand.
But the friends I had in mind are on expert. One's amazing and the other's not bad.
