Weekly wrap-up on Band 6 of the Fantasy All-Star Rock Band Challenge:
QUEEN B*ITCH:
Day 1: Vocalist: Freddie Mercury
Day 2: Guitarist: Mick Ronson
Day 3: Drummer: Ian Paice
Day 4: Bassist: Dennis Dunaway
Day 5: Keyboardist: Brian Eno
Day 6: Songwriter(s): Eno, Marc Bolan and David Bowie
Day 7: Band Name: Queen B*itch
Now it's time for Band 7! This is a Theme Week, and in honor of the just-released Texas Flood album DLC (at long last), I'm going with a Southern-Fried theme. Pick artists who represent the best in Southern rock --- be it true southern rock, or rockabilly, or blues/blues rock, or country/ country rock/ alt-country....
I'm not going to *require* that a nominee be from the South (that's Southern US, by the way, in case our friends in Europe, Asia or Oz were wondering ;)); just that their sound has typically been considered part of one of the above southern genres. (I can think of several major "southern rock" groups right off the top of my head that are/were based in California, the UK, or Australia....)
You may choose any southern rock artist from the 1950s on, male or female, living or dead. Since it's a theme week, there's no "retired band member" restrictions, either.
So pick your favorite southern-rock VOCALIST to begin!
Day 1: Vocalist: ???
Day 2: Guitarist: ???
Day 3: Drummer: ???
Day 4: Bassist: ???
Day 5: Keyboardist: ???
Day 6: Songwriter(s): ???
Day 7: Name This Band!

CCR's status as a Southern Rock band is debatable, but he's the only singer who comes to mind that I particularly like.

From Drive-By Truckers. He just sounds so damn honest.
Also this kind of band requires at least two guitar players, if not 3.

Can southern rock vocalist also include country singers? Just want to broaden up the category a bit...

CCR is one of those non-Southern "Southern rock" bands I was thinking of. :) They're a California band -- just like The Eagles -- but definitely in this genre.

Yup...
As I stated in the OP, feel free to include blues, blues-rock, country, country-rock, alt-country, rockabilly, as well as "true" southern rock....

I'm debating on switching Keyboardist out with a Rhythm Guitarist, like we did with the Metal band. But then again, that would leave out legends like Billy Powell and Jerry Lee Lewis....

Rockabilly is allowed, so I had to go with Brian.

Nothing wrong with having two guitarists AND a keyboard player.
Hell, just about every Southern Rock band did it.
I'd say the 'Dual Lead' line-up is essential to this kind of band.
