Hi there, I was recently given an NTSC special edition PS2 bundle of the original Rock Band. My PS2 is however, a PAL formatted PS2.
I am not a fool, I know that the disc will not function on my PS2, but I was wondering whether the peripherals/instruments featured in the pack will work if I purchased a new PAL formatted disc.
Thanks

I can't see why not, but that is a very uninformed opinion. My understanding is the PAL/NTSC formats have to do with the way the content on the media is formatted. I can't see the game using a different way to communicate with the peripherals.

Since the RB games are essentially controllers, why not try navigating the menus and such and see if they work. If they do, they should work in game.

You're absolutely right. PAL and NTSC are different video formats.

NTSC is 525 (486 visible) lines at 29.97 frames per second.
PAL is 625 (576 visible) lines at 25 frames per second.

These video standards are just that: video standards. They have nothing at all to do with video game controllers or the way they communicate with their respective consoles.

Jeez, thanks David, now I can't use the uninformed line anymore, lol.

Good to have confirmation.

Thanks guys, you've really cleared that up for me. Going to get the new disc then. I was really worried that the instruments were coded when the guitars infrared adapter didn't turn on, but that seems to be another problem. If I could get some feedback on that too then that would be great
