View Full Version : A question for Canadians with broken instruments

To begin, I just want to request that we keep this thread as positive as possible, without any threats of attacks towards any company involved with this game. (The past few threads that I have started have quickly degenerated into negativity that was never intended.)
Anyway, after it became painfully obvious that Rock Band was going to be delayed up here, four friends and I secured copies down in the US, and picked them up at launch.
Now, three of us have guitars that don't work. After calling the support line, we have been told that EA won't ship up here.
So, what do we do? Will EA take care of us once the game is shipped in Canada? Even with the hardware problems, I can guarantee that this game will sell out in my city, as everyone who has been over to try our copies leaves VERY impressed!
As an aside, this game RULES! There is nothing quite like a room full of over thirty year olds, playing plastic instruments, totally freaking out after completing Enter Sandman or Run to the Hills.
Harmonix, I salute you!

I'd say find someone that lives in america that will have it shipped for you

It might not be an option for everyone, but repair it yourself.
It takes a bit of googling, a bit of reading, and, in my case, a bit of cardboard. but the problem that occurs can be fixed very simply, and, that's probably not the best thing to say here, but trying to fix won't leave any trace of intrusion. So if you want to return it (if you can) once it ships here...

i picked this up while in the US over thanksgiving and am curious about the samething. (i'm in canada). Thankfully my guitar still works(i think been pounding the **** out of the drums though... LOL) but i don't want to get stuck with a broken one. The only other thing that comes to mind and is super shady but walk into best buy or futureshop when it comes out pick up the special edition and swap guitars and take it back, they shouldn't hassle you too much as long as the game is still sealed.

Not completely ethical but..... you could buy them here when they come out and trade the guitars and return the newly bought RB with the defective guitar. Perhaps a place with lax return policies like BB or Walmart would be your best bet and just tell them you don't want the game since the guitar is defective and get your money back.
Not the most honest thing to do, but you bypass having to deal with EA and would make the whole process easier and faster....if you can wait for a few more weeks.

I have a friend who lives in the states so he said if anything were to happen then I can have it shipped to his address. Very conveniant for myself but I feel for all of the others who dont have such a luxury :(

Although this is just a guess, I'm sure when Rock Band is released up here EA will start offering replacements to anyone that owns the game. Or you can do like others have said and buy a new copy and return it with your old guitar. I don't think anyone should do this but then again I think EA should be offering replacements so really it's their own fault.
