Excuse me,
I' m an Italian User of Rock Band for PS3,. I have bought a game copy and, since I Have the GHIII Guitar for PS3, I want to play this game as guitarist.
When I have inserted game disc, the game stars but it says that no microphone is inserted and I cannot advance. I don't want to play as vocalist and I have not a microphone.
So I want to ask if it possible to play Rock Band without microphone and how it is possible. Please help me.
Thank you very much

Sorry, but unless a patch (which is being speculated) is released the GH3 guitar will not be registering as a guitar.
The only way to play as a guitarist is to use the Rock Band Strat.

It's the Fender Stratocaster replica guitar that comes with the Rock Band bundle, and will eventually be available on its own sometime in 2008.

The Sixaxis controller? No, for some reason that won't work either. For PS3 owners the only thing that works is the guitar that came with your bundle.

Sounds like you bought the standalone version of the game for the PS3.
In that case, you're out of luck until either:
1) HMX/Red Octane/Sony (depending on where you care to place the blame) comes out with a patch to make the GH3 LP controller compatible with RB (if they ever do at all).
-or-
2) You wait until 2008 when standalone RB stratocasters become available.
Presently, the only way you can play the game is on vocals, and that's obviously only if you go out and buy a USB microphone.

That's incredible. The same developers and different controllers.
I'm hoping for a patch :(

Actually no it's not the same developers. Which is why there is a problem. Harmonix welcomes third party controllers by using an open standard. Red Octane does not.
