At least they didn't make Next Generation Magazine's mistake of labeling this 'Top 100 Ever' and then wussing away from updating the list when the PS2 Generation games came around and the first xbox arrived...

List's pretty big so I'm not going to put up the roster, you'll just have to click on the link below and read which games made the list and answering this question: If you had every game ever made at your fingertips, ‬which would we play right now?

This list had a cutoff month of March 2009, so for Resident Evil 5 and Halo ODST...and hopefully God of War 3 if they manage to get it out the door this year...you'll have to wait until next year to see where they stack up.

For the record, Rock Band 2 did make it onto the list.

Long list to go through, only skimmed it so far. Interesting that they put two Zelda's in the Top 5. And Rock Band 2 is pretty high up there.

I love that Sam and Max Hit The Road is in there too.

What scares me is that I have played the majority of these titles.

No "Wing Commander"? Disappointing! Especially seeing crapfests like Resident Evil and Silent Hill on there.

This is the best list ever. Why? Does not include BioWare's crappy RPGs in it. Mass Effect=Fail. KotOR=EPIC FAIL(I love Star Wars, but hated this game). Although OoT and Majora's Mask should be switched in my opinion. Majora not only refined the formula laid down by Ocarina, but it had a far more interesting story. It's like the In Utero of the Zelda series, it's better than anything in the franchise before it, but no one will admit it because of the nostalgia factor.

I hate these lists, It's entirely an opinion thing.

For example I think A Link to the Past is the best Zelda game ever. The poster above me does not.

Am I wrong, is he wrong, no. It's all opinion. Just play what you like.

:(

I like Bioware's games. What makes me sad is when Obsidian comes around and makes a sequel of a Bioware game. Hello KotOR2 and NWN2.

I agree completely. KotOR2 was like "I'm having fun, I'm having fun, oh, this planet kinda sucks, still having fun, oh, there's recycled korriban, slightly less fun; Wait, that was the ending? They just panned out from the planet... ****!"

Why not just stab a keen poison-tipped dagger of vorpal touch +2 through my Bioware-lovin' heart already?

The lack of Ratchet and Clank and Jak and Daxter saddens me.

This list was pretty good. But I would put Mario Kart for the N64 and Super Smash Bros for N64 way up there. I think Left 4 Dead should be top 5, hopefully I can buy that soon.

You're entitled to your opinion but your opinion is wrong. Let me count thy ways:

1. Bioware make amazing RPGs and if you disagree then it's not my fault you don't like good games.

2. If you honestly think Majora's Mask is better than Ocarina, you must have had a lobotomy. Majora's Mask took the gameplay of Ocarina BECAUSE it was so rock solid and planted over a half baked story with time travel.

3. Nirvana sucks. Don't you ever compare good games to overrated bands. (This is more of a personal vendetta than anything backed with real evidence)

4. Stop saying dumb things.

While it is a pretty solid list...Guitar Hero or GH2 should have been included though, because it did bring about the "Guitar peripheral craze".

I really disagree with Ocarina of Time being on the top of so many "Greatest Games of All Time" lists that I see. I don't think the game aged particularly well, and we've given it a few shots.

How does bringing about a craze mean the game is still among the 'best games to play today'? The list is about games that are worth playing, and being essentially a stripped down version of another game on the list means that the game isn't "as worth playing".

I did have to pretty much question the list on that basis when I came across "Doom 2" on the list. As I said - Pioneering a Genre <> Still being worth playing. I would not recommend Doom or Doom 2 to anyone on that basis. There are better FPSes out there - in all styles - although admittedly the story-free Doom style games are pretty rare. The only one that comes to mind is Serious Sam.

As for the bioware RPG debate - Mass Effect, KOTOR and Jade Empire were good, but they were not nearly as good as the Baldur's Gate / Planescape Torment / Other Infinity Engine games. While those haven't aged well graphically, the core of the gameplay is so deep that it will be a long time before a game ever comes to that level of depth and complexity intermingled with storytelling and work so good.

ok finally seen the list, how is GTA San Andreas ranked lower than Vice City and IV? San Andreas was what i would call, the best out of the "New" GTA games.

Of course, it is all opinion. but still.

Honestly, I haven't completed a GTA since GTA 3 (and by completed I mean the storyline). GTA Vice City didn't grab me because I wasn't enthralled by the setting and San Andreas over complicated the formula with all sorts of RPG elements that just didn't work for me. IV was obviously a step up graphically but just not fun to me. I guess I lost my affinity for these types of games. It really burned me to see it win game of the year on a bunch of lists when I thought the game was nowhere near as good as some others.
