View Full Version : Different latency for guitar and drum?

Hello all.
I have tried auto calibrating on guitar and it still didn't feel right, so I did manual calibrating (latency was 20ms instaed of ~90ms on auto) and it felt much better. But when I moved on to drum it felt off again, so I did another manual calibrating with drum and it was ~90ms :|
So right now I have to change latency whenever I switch instrument to play properly. That causes a problem when I have guests over. Is it a problem with my guitar or is it normal to have different percieved latency with different instruments? Thanks. (I have no info on mic since I normally mute the mic)
My setup:
Video: Sony Bravia XBR2 40" via HDMI
Audio: Toslink to Sony DAV-HDX4xx(forgot model number) 5.1 receiver
P.S. Video has no problem; manual on both instruments and auto have similiar results.

I have the older 40" XBR and had better syncing results when I used HDMI to the monitor and then standard RCA out from the TV to my DAV HDX900W. I found it next to impossible to calibrate to my liking when I used the Optical from the PS3 to the DAV.

first, are you mixing wired and wireless? if so, then yes, its possible to have two difference latencies.
second, when i moved from rb1 controllers to rb2 controllers i kept running into the same problem.. mostly on drums. what i found was that it was just my brain that was having the problems and in fact, the latency that the auto calibration on the guitar was doing was actually correct
