View Full Version : People Who Don't Talk On XBOX LIVE

This is a sheer annoyance, and for more than just the social factor.

My wife and I play together and she sings. When we have no communication with the "band leader" it means that we have NO input into the song selection.

80% of the time the band leader picks "screamcore" songs like Iron Maiden, Flyleaf, etc.. which is fine, she can sing them... BUT she doesn't want to sing those songs every single time we play. It's annoying.

She sings on hard or expert, and I know it's hard to find a decent singer.. but when we have no input into which song she sings it isn't much fun.

I could understand if people didn't want to socialize in the competition modes.. but what's the point to playing the quickplay band if you aren't going to socialize? Validation from silent strangers as to your uberness? Lol.

So if there are people who actually play this game (of which we've found almost none) who actually talk and socialize during the xbox live band quickplay..

please friends list me: SSPWOLF

My wife sings on hard/expert most of the time

and I play guitar/bass on hard and I also sing on medium (some songs on easy, some on hard)

and for gods sakes... if you don't socialize at all isn't it more "accomplishing" to just play the solo tour or something?

The majority of guitarists and nearly all the drummers don't talk due to the hardware.

omg did you just call Iron Maiden 'screamcore'?? If I were Bruce Dickinson, I'd be ticked! Ok, I'd also be rich and wouldn't be sitting here on this forum in the middle of the day, but that's beside the point!

Seriously tho, I hear ya on the 'not talking' bit. I've noticed most people I randomly hook up with online for GH3 don't talk either.

I'll admit that I've done it occasionally too though, put my headset on mute cause I just wasn't feeling social....

Edit: Curse you Badosh, ninja'd :(

haha

Beat me to it.

Oh and if you can sing all the songs and not just your 'niche' songs it makes you a better singer. At least 360 owners have the option for voicechat, Ps3 has no such thing.

I was being fecitous... lol.

No I'm not comparing Maiden to Harum Scarum or anything....

I grew up on Seventh Son of A Seventh Son and Can I Play With Madness....

I was just being goofy about the fact that my pop music loving wife (who thinks Avril Lavigne is cool as the other side of the pillow) doesn't exactly get down with Bruce Dickenson.

Like I said, personally I'd like to play some Pantera or something. I'm currently trying to get my wife to be able to nail the Vagiant song just because it's rock-y enough for me and pop-y enough for her.

I digress though, people should at least allow input from the singer when they are choosing thier songs.

You just have to hook the thing up with the adapter, but the audio quality is... non-existent, at least for me.

Does your wife have her own XBL account? All communications are killed when a guest is a member of the band. Which sucks.

I suppose peoples reasons for not talking on live are varied, but here's my theories

Kids being dumped/kicked from games because they're kids
People being shy
People not having their mic plugged in
Brits sick to death of bad teeth/tea and crumpets comments
People generally worried about being abused by the person on the other end for not being good enough

I could go on, but you get the point. In reality the idiots on live are the minority, but the majority suffer as a result so choose to stay silent.

is the audio quality just bad when you hook it up through drums or for every instrument?

This could be why we get no comms. Makes sense, and I did not know this.

Well, aside from feeling a bit stupid... I suppose at least now I don't feel like noone talks. Maybe they were talking and the comms were just killed?

Hmm.. will have to look in to this more.

Thanks!

I don't talk on Live (don't have RB yet, in Canada) b/c I don't have a mic. Simple as that. I seem to have lost it somewhere and haven't bothered to buy a new one.

I usually talk if I'm singing, but when I try to plug in the headset to the guitar or the drums, it just refuses to work, no matter what I do.

RB Drums and RB guitar. Everything else works fine, including my GHIII LP.

It is annoying! The funnest experience on rock band online was when most of the people had their headset plugged in. It just added that extra UMPH to the experience.

It's just such a pain to get the headset to work on the drum set. I can see why they don't bother.

Set up an Xbox Live account for my wife, seems like it's going to work. It'll let me sign both accounts in. Suppose if I wanted to sing and play bass at the same time it's a good way to do it online, lol. Till she gets off work, guess I'll just sing online :) thanks for the advice guys. Seems like everyone talks now..

ya anytime ive heard a drummer try to use voicechat using the adapter on the drum set all i hear is static...havent had any problems with the guitar. But of course a simple solution to all that would be to do what i do, and thats just use the wireless headset and map it to whatever instrument ur playing at that time, which for me is usually guitar since im still getting used to the drums and wont play them online till im better at it.

No no, Billy Dee Williams is the cool side of the pillow!

I WISH I could talk and through in "Let's play FWD, let's play WGFA" but I can't... because plainly... MY **** DON'T WORK NUKKA! If it did, I would, and I'm sure that's at least 60% out there's problem too.

By the way, David your band's got some sizick **** going on... just wish the singer was a guy =0

Sexist?

When I was playing earlier today to get the two 5-win streak achievements, I came across a couple douches early that made me just put the headset down. I beat some guy, who then verbally berated me, claiming that I got lucky and asking for a rematch. Didn't say a word. Goon. Get a life.

I usually wear my head set (which works fine with the drums), but I take it off after playing for 20 minutes and nobody is talking. Which is probably when I will run into someon who has one an and then I am scrambling to plug it back in.

Some people need to watch the volume of their system or how close they stand to speakers. PLayed with a few people that were getting the songs broadcast through their mics.

ya same here, and there have been some where i could hear the tapping on their drums thru the mic and it threw my whole guitar rhythm off lol.
