The 360, easily.

All you have to do is look at how many 360 bundles were made vs PS3 bundles and the answer should become abundantly clear.

However, that said, the PS3 online community is pretty active.

And Uncharted.

And Folklore.

And Heavenly Sword.

And Eye of Judgment.

All exclusives, all great fun to play, appealing to a very broad base of gamers.

And jq, I'm with you: I love this machine. Right out of the box, it's so much more than a game console.

Hey, as long as no one tries to tell me that the PS3 is already dead or is a piece of junk, it doesn't have to get ugly.

I owned a PS1 and a PS2, and until recently a Wii. After the dismal experience I had with GH3 on the Wii, I returned the game to the store and sold the Wii on Craigslist...I used that money to buy a 360.

And here's the main #1 reason I didn't buy a PS3 instead: HD-DVD vs. Blu-Ray. Sure, the 360 doesn't come with the hd-dvd player, but I didn't see the point in spending money on a PS3 with Blu-Ray for a format that I believe will die out soon.

Why do I think Blu-Ray is going to lose to HD-DVD? I have a few words for you: Betamax. Minidisc. Memory Stick.

See the common element there? Yep, it's Sony. All proprietary formats that died out because Sony refused to license the technology to other companies to make. Betamax lost to VHS, and so on.

I also read recently that Sony has refused to release Blu-Ray technology for the porn industry. Now me personally, I wouldn't WANT to watch porn in Hi-def, but there's a LOT of people who do. The porn industry is HUGE and if it's only allowed on HD-DVD and not on Blu-Ray, that's the nail in the coffin right there.

A lot of people have bought the 360, but many of them have had problems with them.
The PS3 is of more quality from what I have experienced.

Oh, and Blu-ray is better, and sells more than hd-dvd.
The difference is that Blue ray is not Sony exclusive, Samsung, Pioneer, and several other manufacturers make the players.

The fact that the PS3 supports Blue -ray, will insure that base of units will fuel the sales of Blue ray format.

I hear you. Pornography may not be the greatest thing in HD.

But there are some pornographic movies on blu-ray disc.

Why do I think Blu-Ray is going to lose to HD-DVD? I have a few words for you: Betamax. Minidisc. Memory Stick.

Installed base of HD-DVD players reached 750,000 just last week, including the HD-DVD drives sold for 360s. Compare this to the 2,000,000 PS3s sold.

And during the week when HD-DVD broke 3/4 million--largely due to a $99 Black Friday deal on one HD-DVD model--75% of HD disc sales were Blu-ray.

But here's the real problem: only Universal is exclusively HD-DVD for the long haul--the other exclusive, Paramount, was bribed by the HD-DVD consortium to become exclusive for a year. In the meantime, Warner Brothers--the only studio that supports both standards--has scaled back the idea they had of producing a dual-format disc: Blu-ray on one side, HD-DVD on the other. Many people see this as Warner finally deciding to take a stand, and it looks like they're leaning strongly toward going Blu-ray exclusive.

Unlike Beta, Memory Stick, and Minidisc, Blu-ray has something going for it that makes it stand out: way, way, WAY more content in the libraries of the studios who are supporting it wholeheartedly.

They have Sony--which is Columbia and all related labels.

They have Disney--which includes Touchstone.

They have Fox.

If it hadn't been for the bribe, HD-DVD would be on its last legs right now. Virtually every HD-DVD move you see looks like desperation.

It may work, but only if they get more of the studios on their side.

Absolutely incorrect. The Japanese market has quite a lot of pornographic films on Bluray. And using porn as a reason why Bluray will lose the format war is one of the uinniest and most pathetic arguments I've seen.

Also, the poll is currently 2:1 in the 360's favor. That's quite surprising, considering the 360 had a full year with no competition.

At least in this community the PS3, at a higher pricepoint and with fewer titles, has already closed the gap considerably. MGS4 and FFXIII next year should pull them close to even in terms of install base.

As was pointed out, Blu-ray is not the same sort of proprietary that Betamax was. There was only one company making Beta players and there are about half a dozen making Blu-ray players.

Also, the Beta was never as dead as people thought--it was just dead as a consumer device. Professional houses have been using a higher-standard version of Beta for years...long after the death of the consumer player. Its strength was the image quality it provided in a compact format.

First --the results of this poll don't really have any bearing considering that not everyone who owns either console comes here and that not everyone who comes here comes to this thread and that not everyone who comes to this thread votes

Second -- 2:1 is exactly proportional to the time periods that the consoles have been out. How is that the least bit surprising?

EDIT: At this point, I have no idea how Blu-Ray could fail out of the format race. Previous formats are previous formats and have no bearing on Blu-Ray's performance, which is comparatively quite good.

Well thats one person's opinion. I respect it. And I'll give mine. I'll just use two examples as points.

1. I went into Best Buy the other day to check out prices for Xmas shopping and meandered myself over to the HD movie section and Blu-Ray occupied 90 percent of the space, and already had sections blocked off for Superbad and most of it was for the PotC 3.

2. When I first bought my PS3 which was around June, I think. My local Hollywood video (which unlike Blockbuster has gone Blu-Ray exclusive) Each had 4 rows of movies dedicated to each format of movies. Fast forward 6 months and Blu-Ray now owns 12 rows of space and HD-DVD still has 4.

Something like that speaks volumes when people see me grab a Blu-Ray movie off the shelf (I rented the first and third Die Hard installments this weekend) and ask me why I'm grabbing a blue movie and not a red movie and then explain to them the difference. When people see 3x more movies and better choices for one side than the other that can lead them to overlook the price discrepancy between the two players.

I actually thought the poll should be more like 4:1 in favor of the 360, since it appears that that's the ratio the bundles were shipped in.

Of course, there may be more PS3 users posting right now because a) we have broken guitars and b) the Les Paul doesn't work with our game.

My guitar is fine. If gambling were legal (;) ) I would have some imaginary money ( ;) ) riding on the Bears right now I don't want the PS3 to tie up the television.

In addition, you can point out that for just $100 more than the least expensive Blu-ray player, they can get a PS3 that will play Blu-ray discs, play MP3s, show pictures, play Internet video, and play some pretty darned cool games, as well.

There are many more 360 problems than PS3 problems.

The only PS3 issue is that the GH guitars dont work, and for many of us, neither do the Fenders. (at least right now)

Way to take my post out of context. I said DIRECTLY AFTER that line you quoted that I was referring to the poll in this thread, not the gaming community in general.

As for the proportion, use your head. For a solid year gamers with disposable income had only one choice for "next gen" gaming, that was the 360. The second year, they had a choice between a PS3 and a 360. M$ had a year of no competition and a year of some, Sony's had one year of stiff competition. A 2 to 1 ratio, even in a limited community, is surprising.

For this game, there are definitely more complaints about the PS3, but generally speaking, there are more complaints about the 360.

Of course, given that the 360 outnumbers the PS3 by a factor of almost four in the US, you can expect there would numerically be more problems, even if there weren't more by percentage.
