I really liked the story of the game. And as for the gameplay, this is for you: http://www.penny-arcade.com/news/show/22310

My brother said he didn't really like it. Maybe I will steal it from him when I go home for break and try it out for myself.

I loved going arond, saving the citizens, getting all the high points etc. It really added a lot of life and enjoyment to the game. Otherwise, it would've been just like how you described, get briefing, kill, rinse repeat.

A game repititious? No, you must be kidding, I can't recall that ever happening. Oh wait, yeah I can, it's one of the most basic and mostly used game mechanics in video game history.
If your going to use repitition as to why Assisin's Creed is a bad game then you'd have to damn near do the same for every other game. Now granted we have come to a point where we shouldn't have to deal with repitition, but can you blame game designers when it's been a part of how they make games since their inception?
Now I wouldn't out right say repitition alone makes Assisin's Creed a bad game. It does detract from an otherwise awesome game, knocks it down to say an 8-8.5 out of 10 game. But you should also take into account that it's part of a trilogy. Again another tried and true game mechanic that does have it's faults. Yet is a way of really being able to make a much larger game that typically can't be made all at once. What is in store for us as gamers when it comes to Assisin's Creed? Who knows, but if we continue to get the same level of detail and depth of story we've gotten with the first then the outlook is pretty good in my opinion.

Nothing gets old about killing Muslims, Jews and Christians. NOTHING.

Portal is great for the reasons that Assassin's Creed is decent. Portal has a good length. You do things just long enough to see all the tricks it has up it's sleeve on a basic and advanced level and then you are done. You don't climb 100 towers and to spot 75 different dudes half a mile away so you can listen to them (or not because you can save enough people and have them tell you nothing and move on just the same). The game does some things very, very well but does other to a level that becomes tedious. I understand repetition is a large part of games. Rock band is hitting patterns in repetition after all but I swear if another beggar uses the same line of dialog 10 times in a minute or I have to be the only dude standing by a dead body with 2 swords and a set of daggers being asked "who could have done this?" I might not make it to the end of the game.

Try not doing every mission. That helped me. I was doing every mission for the first 4 assassinations then just started doing 3. Still climbed all the view points just for fun.
