View Full Version : How many other forums do you frequent?

For some of us, the RB Forum is where most of the day (& night) is spent. But what other internet forums do you spend time in when you're not here?

Here are my most frequented:

RB (obviously!)
Dyxum.com - a website and forum dedicated to Sony alpha/Minolta Maxxum camera users
PPCGeeks - for Windows based smart phone users
Autodesk.com - for AutoCAD (& other related software) users

There are others that I may visit once in a great while, but these are the places I spend almost all of my time!

I have about 6 forums that I frequent and post on at least daily. Sometimes much much more than that lol

Yea, thats why the only forums I frequent are either work related or allow intelligent adults only lol
Or at least ban the idiots.

yeah. On another forum, one of the mods was Extremely Arrogant. Didn't care about anyone else really, and did probably one of the worst jobs i've ever seen as a mod.

i Told him happy birthday on his birthday (which so happens to be on my birthday), check back later, i get nothing back from him, but he goes to the other people who did the same thing and says "Thanks."

If i knew him personally, i would've slapped (because honetly, i'm not that violent, and i could never punch someone else, even if i wanted to). Thank god he lives on the other side of the world from me.

But yes, d-bags like that are jerks and don't deserve mod status. ever. I don't care if it's your best friend...

Did one of them pertain to a certain 'other' rhythm-based game?? ;)

The RB forum really is the exception to the rule when it comes to gaming forums (especially rhythm games). The high level of civility here is sometimes staggering! Sure we have the odd troll prance through, but it's not often...and they are usually dealt with accordingly.

But, all of the other forums I hang out in are far beyond civil....almost to the point of being sickening. At least around here the sarcasm flows freely!

Even then; children and idiots roam free here. Sure some extreme cases get bans, but that's extreme cases.

Oh, well thanks for that heads up!

but yeah, he didn't. Hell one of the Owners of the forum is a D-Bag too.

I politely ask for Moderator Status (Since they only had 2 active mods, and well over 7,000 members). I get annoyed and send him another message asking why haven't you replied back yet (and this was a month later after i sent him the message) and he said back to me "No, Just because you just yelled at me about it."

There's a difference. Here, as someone stated, the level of civility as compared to other "all-ages" forums is definitely staggeringly higher.
I can say something intelligent and have it be appreciated....

This is because it's a slower and smaller forum compared to a larger forum (say Gaiaonline for example), as such the idiocy substance is much lower.

Yeah, I think most of this is because there are so many regulars here that are intelligent and responsible-ish. It's almost like we're 'self-moderated' at times. (Not taking anything away from our fine group of mods! ;) )

Yea, I call that AOLese.
Don't get me wrong, used sparingly, it can add certain humors to a conversation, but god, people who think it's still cool to write in all leet or obvious misspellings for a cheap laugh annoy the ungodly hell out of me.

I can understand it when texting, but when you have a full keyboard in front of you it just seems like a hassle. I know my brain registers "texting" faster than "txtng".

Exactly! I can understand if you're trying to condense one and a third test messages into a single message.

But I honestly think it's harder to read and type that way.

Why not? I did the same at 12; and I typed not unlike now. Except, I was twelve and had some vocabulary issues. Oh yeah, I typed like this:

I Capitalized Every Single First Word Of Every Sentence, Obnoxious Right? But This Was Only For Like 1 Year Or So!

Rockband
Echoing the Sound (Nine Inch Nails fan run forums)
NIN official forums
TOIOU forums (closed forums discussing the making of the new NIN live DVD)
Gamespot AU (because they have kickass competitions)
VDrums forums (mostly browse there for e-kit stuff)

I bunched all the NIN ones together and said 2-5.

We are truly happy to have all of you. You make this site fun to come for us 8 - 18 hours per day plus weekends. Also just so you know we are still working on making this site even better. We're now up over 250,000 registered users, we're adding some people to my team to handle the overflow, and we are hungering to get more involved with the community at a one-on-one basis.

To think, just a couple years ago when we launched this site it was basically just me hanging out with about 8000 die-hards who eagerly awaited a game we hadn't released any real info about.

This place makes me very happy very often, and I truly thank all of you for your support and efforts at making it one of the coolest game forums around.

Aw, schucks - thanks Sean!

As was stated earlier in this thread, the high level of civility displayed in this forum really is quite impressive.

As a regular visitor (I do consider myself a 'regular'...even though I don't have a five-digit post count, I've been a member for quite a while - and I post when I feel it's appropriate), I think that you guys (developers & mods) deserve a ton of respect for shaping this into a highly functioning community.

Common words like that are always the first to go.
