I figure this deserves to be in the Rock Band category because it has to do with the lack of single player BWT or online. Because nobody who lives around me likes rhythm games enough to play 4 hours a day, I need to sing and play guitar at the same time. I'm not even mad to do this, it adds a nice challenge. The problem is, I need a mic stand (I can't keep on taping to my lamp :D). I was considering these:

or
http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/ProLine-Tripod-Boom-Microphone-Stand?sku=454314
The only problem is that I don't need the boom thing. I only want the tripod stand. So, can I remove the boom attachment and add my own mic clip? Or do I need to go with a straight stand (I realize it's easier to do this, but all the tripod straight stand suck)
Also considering this clip:

Thoughts on the boom thing?

The boom is easy enough to configure just like a straight stand, and they end up being just about the same price at the low end you're looking at anyway.
Why would you want to take off the boom? It's not like it's gonna get in the way, and in fact is pretty crucial if you want to play guitar or drums and sing at the same time.
That clip will work just find for the RB mic.

ok so is the boom basically an extension of the original stand, so I can put that clip I want on the end of the boom attachment?

I bought this one:

The included clip is a bit tight, but it fits the RB mic well enough.

Yup, the clip screws onto the end of the boom.
