View Full Version : Did anyone else who broke their drum pedal tape it up?

Mine cracked in a way that made it easy to hold it in place to tape it up. It was tricky to go between the pedal and the base, but I wrapped it a few times in tape and it works fine now. It even feels more sturdy than before. If I decide to order a new pedal, I'll probably just wrap it in tape the day I get it because it doesn't seem like it will be easy to break that way.

It's pretty easy to take apart. The spring comes out and the orange piece slides out. Then you can duct tape (along with a couple of paint stir stick or something like that on top for strength.) to you heart's content. Mine works a lot better reinforced like that. It's more "Rock N Roll" looking too!

I was thinking a good 2 part epoxy would work, or better yet, a diamond plate reinforcement.

Duct tape is holding together my pedal right now. :-)

I just put some duc tape on it. It's working fine. Been broken for at least 8 months.

Mine broke the first time in January 2008 near the base of the pedal. I bought 4 flat metal hinges and duct taped two on the top and bottom of the pedal. It worked great until the summer of 2009 when the base actually snapped in half. I ran out and bought two more and it still works great.

Oh yeah duct tape worked just fine for us.

if it ever slides out forward, you should tape up the gap where the orange bit under the pedal can slide out, thats how i fixed mine after breaking it (first weekend after i got rock band!!)

You can tape it but that's always been a temporary fix for me, and having gone through 6-7 pedals... I did a metal petal mod that's now off the market but that pedal has lasted from RB1 to RB3 now (using the older metal pin hinge, even). Taping for me always worked for an evening or two but never took the beating for more than a few nights.

I've gone through about six pedals. In the plastic days, I added cardboard and duct tape until it essentially got soggy. Since then I keep all my pedals and use them for spare parts on the others. Broken pedals since rb2 just get duct tape under the metal plate which brings them back up to about 90% sturdy. Broken bases, I drill holes into it and embed some sturdy screws, and then duct tape it.

These things are expensive, and somewhat too easily broken. I try to make them last as long as possible, since my lead foot keeps breaking them.

I once even duct taped an old pedal to the bottom of the drums themselves, to slow down the breaking off of my snare. (it lasted about a week after that)
