im looking for a good bass amp for christmas. not something huge that i would get for Ozzfest or something, but something that would be good for playing at churches, my school, and other small venues. and not too expensive either. all i have is my ****ty 1.5x1 Johnson beginner amp that i got with my bass 2 and half years ago. and ive had to borrow stuff when i played somewhere else ever since.
anyone have suggestions?

I use a Peavy Max 112 for my bass playing needs:

The Peavys are nice because they have decent power for a good price.
Oh, Sweetwater doesn't charge Shipping, either.

Ew. I hate peavy products.
I love my aluminum coned hartke gear. Ampeg makes some good stuff to, although I have been out of playing bass for a long time.
Are you looking to buy another but bigger combo amp, or a speaker cab of some sort and an amp as seperate units?

This is the system I currently, and have rocked for the longest time.

I don't really play bass anymore, so we use it as a pa for parties now. But is been a great system for like 5 years now.

What kind of price are we talking? I'd recommend a Fender Rumble. They're a bit pricey but are rugged and have great tone. If you have the cash it's a purchase you most certainly will enjoy.
At least my father has gotten more than his moneys worth.

Ah, then I know nothing about that. I need something big( as you can see), so I don't know jack about combo amps.

I've got a peavey minx 110, had it for about 5 years, and never had any trouble on it. I've used it for jazz and rock shows in anywhere from a room, to a 3000+ auditorium, even outside. It's definently a tank too, takes all kinds of abuse, great amp

and it doesn't look that ugly in real life

What the hell is 30 watts going to do for you?
I used my old 50W amp as a monitor, and I could rarely actually hear it.

Must be for bass amps. I've been able to get regular guitar amps from marshall for about a dollar an amp, maybe a little more.

hmm. i just looked again and they have a 30W guitar amp for $230. although its including a bunch of effects, which most people would rather have a set of pedals for rather than amp settings.

I get my amps from a small music store about an hour SW of Houston... Must have good deals!

the guy at Guitar Center told me the behringer i was wanting's speaker can't handle the wattage, so they don't sell it anymore. i ended up getting a Gallien-Krueger Backline 112(100w). as well as trading in 2 of my old basses for this kick ass thing

mine's a dark green/grey color, and i love it. best thing i've ever bought in a while.
