HMX,
First, thanks for a great game. I'm in love with the drum kit, and love playing - almost finished expert drums then it's off to the expert guitar tour.
I do have a request (and I apologize if this has been posted before), but in Band Online Quickplay, can you please take into account a player quitting midway through the song?
There have been numerous instances were someone has bolted out and left the other 3 players to die because we can't revive them (obviously) and so our health meter slowly drains until we're forced to start again. Extremely annoying.
Anyway, just thought I'd throw it out there in case it hadn't already been mentioned.
Thanks,
Ian

Never seen this, was just online not too long ago today and our drummer quit out in the middle of the song. Didn't effect us at all, even though we could see the red drummer icon at the bottom flashing.. our meter still stayed all the way up as we played through the rest of the song.

Yeah, if someone drops out as the song is loading, the band will fail pretty quickly because of the dropped person.
As a side note, if the rest of the members still want to play the song, you can just retry it. It'll still show the person who dropped out, but you won't be penalized for it.

Thanks, yeah I realize we can replay the song, but I've had someone drop out midway through a song and the same thing happens. On a the longer songs, it's really annoying to reply them just cause someone else gave up/lost connection/etc. I figure there's a reason why they fail us out, but it's a little rough if 3 of the 4 players have maxed the bar and a 4th bombs out of the game and disconnects -we still end up failing out.
Just my thoughts, tis all :)

I'm pretty sure that's expected behavior. It's complicated dealing with player disconnects while you're in the middle of a song. Which is why when you retry or get into the new song, your band plays just fine. Also, from a design stand-point, what's to stop somebody from quitting out at a hard part just so the band doesn't fail? Rock Band tries to encourage the "We're all in it together" approach. It would suck if people started to get mad at their friends or whoever just because they stayed in the game and failed out, rather than quit out to save the band from certain failure.

Fair enough - I definitely understand the reasoning. Remember, I'm talking about quick online play though, not band world tour (unless Online BTW is coming *hint*) :)
I guess it's a lose lose situation - you need to prevent people from abusing the system, on the other hand it sucks for players who just have random XBL players who quit for no reason.
Still, thanks for listening, and thanks again for one hell of a fun game.

My feature request, specific to the Xbox 360 version:
Can we get a quick shortcut button on the "select player" screen that will bring up the 4-player sign-in UI? This would be a godsend for cases where you have a group of people that want to switch instruments and they all have their own accounts, since instead of having to individually sign out and then sign in again, all four slots could quickly change which profile they're signed-in under.
If any Harmonix folks are reading this and not certain what I'm referring to, I'll gladly point them to the specific API call and parameters needed for it.
It would just make things so much easier for everyone in party-play situations.

My request would be to default to previously played band members when choosing the character art for currently non-playing band members.
This would keep the feeling of the band alive even when you're missing a friend physically playing with you as well as allowing us to create dummy characters for consistency of looks when shorthanded.

For all the PS3 guys out there, there's two pretty huge and obvious things that we *need*. And that's voice chat in online, and support for the PS3 Guitar Hero 3 Les Paul controller. I have 5 guitars in my livingroom and I don't really want to have to get a 6th.. and I especially don't want to have to wait 2 more months to be able to play with a full band.
To me, anything else is secondary to those two things. They're very very basic game play issues that make the experience on the PS3 significantly inferior. I know they're probably both very difficult to implement, but I think the return on investment is pretty high.
