I haven't done any market research or anything, but common sense mandates that a significant portion of those who've purchased your product and have money to spare have some amount of disposable income and yet are young enough to think that video games are not beneath them. I'm sure that plenty of other people play this, but I'm making the (perhaps rash) statement that a great deal of your "target market" consists of people who are somewhere between the ages of 24-38. Maybe I'm full of it, and in that case, disregard. But if you're feeling me on this Harmonix people, give us what we like. 90's music, baby. Lots of it. Nirvana, Tool, Pearl Jam (the entire "Vs." album would make GREAT Rock Band tracks), Rage Against The Machine, QOTSA (new, but in keeping with the theme), Breeders, NIN, Pixies, etc. Make some bank guys. Sell the tracks that people with free cash will be happy to buy.

As an additional note, my kudos to Death of the Cool. Those are some salutory tracks you all have layed down there. I'd take more of them if Harmonix Market Research determines that my request is without fiscal merit. If nothing else, give us some more of them.

Discuss amongst yourselves.

There is enough Queens of the Stone Age, in my opinion.

And "Nevermind" for DLC. So that's more than enough Nirvana.

Not a big fan of NIN, RATM, or The Breeders.

But I'm with you on Pearl Jam and Tool.

There is already enough/too much recent music, 90's and 00's, The 70's and 80's are where its at. Gimmie me Queen, ZZ Top, Steve Miller, Frank Zappa, Eagles, Yes, Pink Floyd... the good 'ol stuff.

Thats all well and good, but the demographic I'm talking about might not like some of those. Floyd, Zappa and Queen sure. But the Eagles? Maybe not.

see, I want some pink floyd on there, i really want some chuck berry. i want Bob Segars Turn The Page, i prefer 90's stuff honestly, I want to see some old Godsmack personally. But what they really need, is new stuff. like last years music. music coming out now. Now granted i rarely listen to the radio anymore, but i like to play hard rock stuff. Like Disturbed, lets get some old linkin park, old breaking benjamin Polyamorous Friend would be cool, Taproots Poem, Chevelles Family System. Stuff like that. I guess i just contradicted myself.. lol. i guess we need some 90's stuff on here. late 90's early 2000's. they have plenty of old stuff on these games. But if u really want to know what i want.. lol. ill tell u. Underground Metal!!! HARMONIX, GO CHECK OUT FALLEN FIGURE'S "UNWILLING", ITS AN AMZING SONG!!! AND GET SOME OPETH ON THIS GAME, OR BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME, ILL EVEN TAKE THE HUMAN ABSTRACT, U SHOULD ALSO CHECK OUT PROTEST THE HERO. AMZING MUSICIANS, ALL OF THESE BANDS I JUST NAMED. INSANELY AMAZING.

What kind of songs are you talking about exactly.

I fall under the demographic you mentioned...I even agree that I would LOVE Pearl Jam soon and in large quantities. I also like QOTSA, NIN and Tool. However, QOTSA has enough material now and shouldn't be looked at again for at least a few months.

I do wish to say, however, that while Pearl Jam would be one of my top 20 bands I'd like DLC for, that I don't believe the other bands make it into that top 20 demographic. I don't really think the 90's necessarily deserve as much attention as to be the major age of music to look at. In my opinion Nirvana is mediocre, the Pixies are not good and I don't even know the Breeders, so none of their DLC would interest me. On top of that, alot of those bands are either in already or similar to one another. Tool and NIN are VERY similar to me, and even QOTSA with their electronic rock vibe feel similar to those bands (I know some will flame me for this).

My point is this. Your taste in music is fine, and kudos for wanting some of your favorite bands in the game. But I wish to impart that I believe variety is the spice of life with this game. My musical tastes go as far back as oldies like the Beatles and The Rolling Stones (who need DLC) and as far forward as loving to death modern bands like Coheed & cambria (they can't do enough DLC for them), DragonForce, Killswitch Engage, etc. These are all bands I want DLC from. I also love 80's music, Iron Maiden needs in, as do the Scorpions.

My point is that yes, you really like 90's music, but it would crush my soul if that's ALL they focused on. The way they do it is already the best, with the varied mix of all ages, going for excellent reprentatives from all corners of rock. As it stands, I'm not going to buy more than 1 to 2 songs on the Nermind album, but ALL the Who album. Why? Because even though I'm 22, and the Who are a band my father loved, they are to me a better band. I'm glad you get Nirvana, but I don't think a business plan based on a pigeonhole will help Harmonix's business plan. (Sorry for my verbosity, writing a paper and doing this on the side, so I'm in lengthy mode.)

I like classic music too. So I guess if this is about getting more Classic music on DLC then I'm for it.

I fall under this demograph of yours but I much rather perfer the music of the 70's and 80's. Granted I admit I may be of the few considering all through out high school people thought I was weird for listening to what I listened to, amongst many other reasons.

I'm in that demographic (the older end) and I wouldn't pay for almost any of these bands personally. I would be more interested in Classic Rock and goofy 80s rock/metal. It's too bad so many of those singles were already put in Rock the 80s, because I'd love to see them in the game.

AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, Queen, Van Halen (up through 1984), Metallica, Guns N' Roses, Aerosmith, Dire Straits, Blondie, Fishbone, Jimi Hendrix, Faith No More, Jane's Addiction, Rolling Stones, the Beatles, Primus, No Doubt, ZZ Top, Living Colour... those would be some of my top picks.

And hey, let's see Love Missile F1-11 by Sigue Sigue Sputnik. ;)

I have, and will always maintain that Pearl Jam is the worst band in the history of music. Even worse than ICP. I hate Pearl Jam and if Rock Band get's Pearl Jam, I'm going to stab myself in the face with my drumsticks.

I don't think there is enough Queens of the Stone Age. They hit too much of the singles. I want the hits that fans love, like Feel Good Hit of the Summer, Millionaire, Someone's in the Wolf, etc.

The best rock music came out in the 70's, period. Band for band, I don't thnk any other decade could compare, not even close.

Led Zep
The Who
Yes
Genesis
Rush
Fleetwood Mac
Eagles
Deep Purple
Rolling Stones
Clapton
Elton John
Aerosmith
Tom Petty

Many, many more...you can complete the list. As mentioned, Clapton, Richie Blackmore, Steve Howe, Jimmy Page, Pete Townsend...The best guitarists ever...Neil Peart, Keith Moon, Phil Collins...best drummers

The best bands with the best musicians writing and performing the best music in the history of 'rock' , imo. Btw, I'm 43, go figure.

Yes I agree, plus Sammy Hagar, Billy Idol, and AC/DC.

For newer stuff, how about Creed, and Staind.

These bands can be enjoyed by yound and old equally.

Demographics?

I am 46, but can appreciate newer music if it is done in the spirit of true rock and roll.

I agree with you on the demographics of this game 24-38. Being squarely in the middle of this demo at 29, I can't see a lot of support for the newer stuff you mention - Nirvana, Breeders, Pixies, Pearl Jam. There is already enough 90s music (Hole? Garbage? Why?). Unless you are into playing this game by yourself, nobody wants songs that are slow, boring and not well known by all. This is a party game. When you have people over they want to play something they have sung or drummed or air guitared a million times in their cars - ACDC, Metallica, GNR, Def Leppard (change the drum kit for more pedals and one arm? lol), Motley Crue, Led Zep, Pink Floyd, Soundgarden, Springsteen, Boston, Scorpions..etc. Just my two cents.
I was disappointed with the amount of boring songs in this game. More anthems!
Loving the game to death though
