I looked through this forum a bit and only found one other post w/ a similar problem, but mine is slightly different. Plus I didn't see and answers that helped. Sorry.
I connected to a couple of buddies on xbox live tonight for some band quickplay (first time) and noticed a problem.
I was on the drums, so I'm not sure if it's only related to the drumset or not. I had my xbox headset connected to the mic port on the drumset w/ the supplied headset adapter from the RockBand box. I can not hear them through the headset, meanwhile they get audio feedback. I only know this because I can hear them through my surround setup.
What is strange is that I have my 360 set up to only play voice chat through the headset.
If I turn on a wireless xbox360 controller and listen with a headset connected to that controller, I hear them. They do not however get audio feedback this time.
I don't ever have headset issues with any other games or in a voice chat. Only in this game.
In case anyone would need to know, I have the Dolby Digital box unchecked in the RockBand game menu. I read about possible feedback/lag issues. This did not help me.
I also checked EA's RockBand website, but found nothing useful.
What is strange is that they could talk to each other perfectly fine. They each had their own Live connection, not a local connection.

I'm not adding to this to bump to top, but I'm hoping someone from Harmonix/EA whomever reads it.
I've seen similar posts about this problem, worded differently but overall seemingly similar.
I understand HMX or EA (whomever is officially in charge of this tech site) are fairly busy, and maybe you are looking into this and the many other problems that you are being made aware of.
If this is the case and you are aware of this or other problems, and are indeed looking into it, could you just reply as such?
I hope I'm not coming off too pissy, not really meaning to. I'm just frustrated with this particular problem.
Thanks

I have had the same problem with the drum set, As soon as I plug in the mic other band members say there is noise or feedback. To tell the truth I have not had a successful conversation with the guitar either, usually they can not here me at all I don't know if there is a secret I do not know about or what.

I have the same problem with the drums and the guitar..... I also plugged my headset into my wireless controller with the adapter and still had the same problem. As soon as I took the adapter out of the equation my headset worked... Too bad we have to use the adapter to plug the headset into the drums and guitar.... EA or Hmx please assist with this issue.

I had the same issue and i found the problem to be the adapters supplied with the game. They appear to be of varying quality. I used on adapter with the drums and guitar and got horrible feedback, couldn't be heard but could randomly hear other players. I switched the adapter I was using with the other one that was provided and that fixed the problem. 2 other friends of mine had the same issue and switching adapters fixed the issue for one of them. The other had the same issue with both adapters. She went to Radio Shack to get a similar adapter from them and it fixed here issue.
As I said, the adapters appear to be of varying quality so try switching adapters you are using or purchase an aftermarket adapter.
Hope this helps!
