View Full Version : Red Drum Pad - Dead

Hey all,
My red drum pad recently went out while I was playing. At first, it wouldn't register faster sixteenth notes, then slower eighth notes. As I continued playing, it started becoming less and less responsive, until it just died. I thought this was strange because I don't use the pad that often (I play lefty flip). Just to be sure I wasn't going crazy, I played Maps Expert (it has a lot of cymbal in it). I can consistently five star this song, but I missed almost all of the red notes during my test. I can't even back out of menu screens without tapping on the red pad constantly. All of my other pads work flawlessly.
It seems a lot of people are also having instrument problems, but they seem related to the guitar or bass pedal instead of the drum pads. Anyone else having issues with pads? Any advice from tech support?

The red pad goes out a lot. Get it replaced.

I had the exact same problem but with my yellow pad. At first it wouldn't register the really fast hits, got progressively worse, and then it finally just died completely.
I filled out the customer service form on a Monday morning last week and LITERALLY got the replacement kit (drums, sticks, pedal, EVERYTHING!) on Wednesday (two days later!)
I believe the problem with dead pads has to do with cutting one of the wires that connects the pad hit mechanism to the motherboard. Nonetheless, get a replacement since it's under warranty and try to be gentler on them if you want them to last longer!

They're drums! What are we supposed to do, hug them? :D

Well, it looks like there isn't much I can do, so I've plunked down my money to get my replacement. Hopefully it will get here soon. I just hope it doesn't stop working like my current set of drums.
Also, I never did hit the drums overly hard. I am a drummer in real life (for about 6 years), so I just play them as if they were actual drums. I don't try to slam the pads really hard or mash the bass pedal. I actually play very relaxed... I'm just surprised they went out so quickly.
I'll update when I receive and test my new kit.
