So what was the first forum you were an active member of?

For me it was this site ran by Nintendo called Nsider, Nintendo than sacked the website operators and closed the forum, the last post was "Shadow is Racing Mama Luigi"

Kingdom Hearts Synthesis.

It was a small (200 members, about 50 active) Kingdom Hearts board where I met a lot of my current friends. I even met one of my best friends, Ty, through it. I go to his house a lot now :D

The first forum I was a member on would be the Circle. It is on the website of a Christan author named Ted Dekker.

I check it every once in a while. I was distraught when I discovered Guitar Hero is preferred over Rock Band over there.

Then I screwed with Yahoo Answers until I had been around long enough to complain about how all the good posters were gone and I pretty much despised the current crowd. Yeah, I was the grumpy old coot.

Every point starts to look just like the last when you have 5,896. That's when I decided that I'd spent WAY too much time on there and that my best times were long past.

It's not a sighting...just the desert night playing tricks. When you awake, you will be in your bed. Ignore any awkward pains. They are just there because you had a busy day, and they are certainly not side effects of the probing.

Mine was (don't laugh) the Bam Margera official message board. I was a teenager, so it was okay. I eventually became a moderator there, and I'm still good friends with a few of the other mods and one of the administrators. I filmed one of the fellow mod's weddings, and crashed on their couch for a week.

That was the only forum I was an active poster on where I actually met people in real life and kept in touch with them after the board went to ****.

a site called MSFL. It stands for Madden Simulation football League. There were many of them, but this was the biggest. After that disembanded, it was MSFL_R, and other leagues. Just a group of guys that liked photoshop and gimp, liked writing articles, and liked getting on on saturdays to see how their team and player did. Best general forum section ever for a while, then it went to crap just as the leagues died out.

The Red Alert 2 boards in 2000.

That place was phenomenal. Since there were no mods present (unless someone started spamming or breaking the forums) we pretty much had free reign to have open and fun discussions. That place was so much fun, and everyone was awesome. I'm pretty sure this was partly because it was 2000 and a lot of people were new to this whole message board system.

Once EA started sacking people at Westwood, the boards abruptly closed, and a whole bunch of people splintered off into different boards. I think 2 years later, someone hacked the forums and opened it back up and it was this amazing nostalgia rush. All the oldbies came back and it was awesome to catch up with people. I think it took EA like 2 weeks to realize this happened and they totally deleted it after that.

Those were good days.

In all honesty though, I love that here at the RB forums HMX employees actually talk with you and are a part of the community. It really makes it a worthwhile place to stick around at.
