Paramount and DreamWorks have officially announced that they will be making Transformers 3, and releasing the film on Friday, July 1st 2011. Summer 2011 is really begining to shape up as Transformers becomes the third film announced thus far for July — Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II hits on the 15th and Marvel’s The First Avenger: Captain America hits on the 22nd. Paramount has also moved up the release date of Marvel’s Thor to June 6th to give the threequel more breathing room. No word on if Michael Bay or stars Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox are set to return, but I would be really surprised if it didn’t happen.

I hope that none of the people in the last line are in no way, shape or form associated with this movie. Maybe they'll make it a little more dark, and less kiddy-like.

I said I was taking off a year from Transformers. Paramount made a mistake in dating Transformers 3 - they asked me on the phone - I said yes to July 4 - but for 2012 - whoops! Not 2011!!! That would mean I would have to start prep in September. No way. My brain needs a break from fighting robots.

So...

1) Bay will either get paid a lot of money to forgo his brain break...

2) The film will be pushed back a year to 2012...

3) They'll get a new director. I'll now share with you a terrifying concept that just sprang to mind: Ratner! "RATformers!" You can imagine it...you know you can! To be clear, this last option is just me goofing around. I'm aware of NO INDICATION in any way, shape, or form that Bay won't be back.
