So, it's almost 2 weeks since launch. Giving the team the benefit of the doubt that they were off over thanksgiving, it's a been a week for them to look into some of the issues. The hardware stuff is solved. Anybody else think today would be a good time for some word on other issues like inability to back up save files, lack of Les Paul on PS3, etc.? I know I'm staying tuned to the announcements page.

What the hell are you talking about "unable to back up save files"?

I've done it.

On 360 or PS3? On PS3 the file is copy protected and cannot be copied to a memory device. Somebody else had told me that the same is true for 360.

360.

I've moved my save file from my hard drive, to a memory card, to another hard drive.

It's only copy protected if you are not under the profile associated with that save file.

I'd say it'll be a few more weeks before a patch is fully done. Not sure on patches for the PS3, but I've heard for the 360 that Microsoft wants a lot of regression testing before they release one. That plus the majority of the dev's are probably on vacation post-launch, you know to spend time with their families that they probably haven't seen in 6+ weeks of working almost non-stop to get the game out.

I'd really say that anything before January considering the release date would be amazing, and anything beyond basic fixes would take at least that long to debug once they patched it.

They may be, but they said last week they were back in the office looking into the existing issues. Just no official word on whether or not stuff will be fixed. I think the PS3 Les Paul stuff may come before January.

i doubt it. no one loves the PS3 enough to put out a patch before xmas. lol. times like this it really does suck to be a PS3 owner.

besides, a patch of that kind would fall under the Activion/Neversoft jurisdiction and why should they care? they're worth more than EA now. LOL

Not sure about the 360, but according to the PS3 doc you can move protected saved data files, you just can't copy them.

I'd like to see this "feature" disabled as well, so I can make back-ups of this file from my HDD to my SDD card.

Will have to give that a try.

I've got a fix request. HMX ditches EA and goes Indie. That will fix everything.

HMX is independent. they are owned by MTV but are still not under the EA umbrella.

Yes MS does do extensive QA on patches and updates. It shouldn't take more than a week unless there was an issue that needed to be resolved.

I don't know about game companies, but I've worked in several software companies that have pushed really hard to get out a product.... there's no more vacation afterward than there was before. It's the way the industry works. You work your ass off, and your reward is that you don't have to work quite so hard afterward..... unless you're working on patches, in which case it's just more of the same.

I hope to see a patch pretty quick. The fact that there was a 1.01 patch practically right away makes me hopeful for another one fairly quickly.

Has anybody ever figure out what 1.01 did?

I'd like to see a new blog thread in announcements. It just seems there was all this communication before launch and now nothing. I'd like to hear something, whether it's about hardware issues or not, just something...

If that were the case, then fingers wouldn't be pointing at EA. If they aren't under the EA umbrella, then why is EA's logo stamped on the website and box?

Because EA published the game. They had no involvement in development. Just like how EA's name is tied to Orange Box... as a publisher.

because EA is the publisher. Companies can work together and ot be financially locked together. I'm not sure if Rock band has a stake in the trademark rock band but if it doesn't MTV and HMX could just to go to another publisher with a rock band sequel later if they wanted to. It's not unusual. Free radical for instance has published the timespltters series with three different publishers in the past.

So as publisher, they are responsible for the hardware. Either way, it is a partnership that needs to end.

I bought a new 250gb HDD for my PS3 and am just waiting to borrow my friends external drive to run the Backup Utility before switching out my drive. I hope I can do this!!!! I do not want to have to unlock all the songs and restart my solo modes and BWT.
