View Full Version : Voice Chat doesn't work With Guest?

Hello,

I was wondering if this is a recognized issue. The voice chat seems to work fine when I play online by myself with a group of 3 other people. However, when my wife logs in as a guest, we can no longer hear anyone else in the channel nor can anyone hear us. This occurs with practically any combination. So far, we've done Mic / Guitar, Guitar / Drums, Mic / Drums.

I've also noticed this when I've been logged in by myself and have someone join with their own guest. We cannot hear what they are saying and they cannot hear what I'm saying. I verified this by talking to one of my friends over the phone while he was logged into my wife and I's party.

Are there any plans to fix this? I can see if you're not going to allow the guest to be able to chat through a microphone or whatever, but why shut down the entire voice chat ability?

Anyone else run into this?

wow you do know that guest acconts dont have voice rights , try using a second gold accont and see if that works. if its a new xbox then a silver accont will get 1 month of free gold, but it will only work so many times so dont get like all yay free live.

Yes, I do know that Guest Accounts do not have voice rights. That wasn't what I was saying. Why is my Gold Account not able to send or receive voice over XBL when I have a guest account logged in as well? Why are we unable to hear ANYONE else in the game channel?

It's almost like the headset and microphone are completely disabled on my gold account. I can't even hear messages sent to me from my friends while my guest is logged in. Why would having a guest account logged in remotely affect this?

I have experienced the same problem. It is because of the "friend" logged on. They need to fix this. My wife and I want to play with some friends, I don't want or feel I should purchase another gold account just so we can decide which song to play next, or chat about how we just did. IT'S VERY ANNOYING NOT TO BE ABLE TO CHAT WITH FRIENDS IN BETWEEN SONGS!!!!!!!!!

I would think they could set it so that only the gold account can communicate in the lobbies. That would allow us to discuss which song we want to play next, etc. If the Guest Account is setup as a singer, then only allow their mic to work during play, not in the lobby. Simple enough fix, right?

I was just wanted to confirm this post. If you're signed in with another local user as a guest, you will not hear or transmit any voice comms. Only private chat works (which means my hardware/headset is working properly).

On the other hand, signing in with a second XBL gold account, everyone could talk on the Rock Band general channel. This is really annoying. All other games allow you to chat on XBL, albeit FROM the gold account only. Rock Band doesn't allow even the gold account to communicate.

Surely, this isn't by design..? Would HMX please confirm or deny this?

How do you guys use voice chat(360) without having a guest account being up? There isn't any mic plug like the les paul guitar so don't you have to use a 2nd controller on to use the mic?

Yes there is, there's a little hole in the guitar. In the same box that had the USB hub should be 2 headset adapters. You plug your headset into that, and then the adapter plugs into the little hole in the guitar. Drums have the same little hole for the adapter plug.

Thanks for the heads up. I never opened the box with the HUB so I guess I never saw that.

Bringing this thread back to the top, because I'm really surprised this has not been addressed yet.

Mods / Devs : Can we get a reason why this does not work? No other online game restricts the chat like this. The player with the Gold account hears the chat...enough said...that's just how it's always worked.
