I've owned Rock Band 2 since it's release for the Wii and there's one thing that really irks me..... When will Harmonix start updating the DLC with the back catalog for the Wii? I keep seeing new music being added but not enough of the back catalog. IMO, Harmonix should 1st get the DLC up to date with the other platforms before moving on with newer tracks. The back catalog is one of the main reasons I purchased RB2 in the first place. I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels this way. C'mon Harmonix!!! Get back on point!!!

HMX was slow at first, but we are getting bigger and better releases every week, now including New Releases! Patience... Just think of this as time to stock Wii Points...

We have 30% of the dlc available after only two months.
There are portions of the back catalog released every single week, the quantity of it just varies.

Personally, I think it makes more sense to have the newer releases sync up, with a bit of back catalog every week. That way the 'backlog' of older songs never increases... it is always a declining number.

If they did solely back catalog and ignored new releases, theoretically there could be weeks where we fall further behind. That was the case the first couple of weeks immediately after the store opened.

Your version of the 'right' way to do it and my version of the 'right' way to do it might be different, but that doesn't make either version incorrect... it's just different approaches.

What we do know is the intention is to release everything.
I think it is important to note that we are receiving our dlc at a much faster rate than other consoles did when their dlc first started coming available.

We are catching up, it will just take time.

You make some fine points based on your perspective. For better efficiency split up new and old tracks 50/50 on each release date. Like said above Harmonix is focusing on new material which is good just imo the ratio is off.... ie: the last update for older material was 2 weeks ago and nothing but new tracks in these last couple of weeks. Seriously, RB2 was out for awhile for all the other platforms before the Wii version was out... the months in between could have been managed better to have the DLC fully updated before the Wii launch. I know it's easier said than done. It just looks like time wasn't utilized to it fullest. Instead of focusing on one genre (ie: blues, country), mix it up so there's a bit of everything.

For everyone who wants HMX to focus on the back catalogue, there is someone who wants new stuff to be released as well. They are not going to be able to please everyone. I would rather they sync up with the 360 and PS3 as soon as possible. If they hadn't, we would have missed out on Stevie Ray Vaughan. We did miss out on REM, which I thought was unfortunate.

I think most people would much rather see "Ten" with a few additional from the back catalogue then just a bunch of the back catalogue. They're doing what they can and I think it's a pretty good rate. I'm happy as heck that we're getting the new DLC now.

That's wrong. Last week was all back catalogue. The other weeks have been a mix. The Who was back catalogue this week.

Well, that's not entirely accurate.
This week for example, in addition to the new releases, we received 3 back catalog songs by the Who.
Last week was 14 back catalog songs... admittedly, some were 'newer' back catalog, but still back catalog.
The week before that, the SRV week, we had 3 back catalog Jimmy Eat World songs.
And prior to those weeks, everything was back catalog stuff.

So every week we do get some back catalog stuff.
I can't speak to the dlc being up to date at the wii store launch, but there were 50 songs available when the store first opened.

I just don't think its possible to keep everyone happy.
Regardless of how HMX does it, someone is going to be disappointed because its not exactly how they want to see it done.
And I'm sure everyone has some favorite DLC in the back catalog they are waiting for that they want to see come out sooner rather than later.

It seems to me like they are experimenting with different approaches, and perhaps evaluating those different approaches each week.

If so, we'll be fine

Man I was wishing to play '"Constant Motion" among several other songs I've seen on the website. But when I went to the music store they were nowhere to be found. I just hope we can at least get caught up soon, I've been anxious to play those songs already!
