i just got back from school (yes it's 1:15 EST, and there was a pep rally so i got to go home after it, anyways), so at this pep rally i went to, usually we listen to rap/hip-hop, but today we were listening to Hard Rock/Metal. And people were enjoying it! That got me thinkin': the other day, there was a pject that envoed playing a song/rap, and everybody had Metal music going. Earlier in the year we had "Band Day" where you wear a rapper's/band's T-Shirt, and at least 50% wore rock band's shirts. Last year, i said i hate Lil' Wayne and Rap; and a few kids joined be and started getting deeper and deeper into rock/metal. I think a revolution's coming. The age of hip-hop and rap is coming to an end? Metal and Rock are finally making their 00s come-back? I think so, and in a few years the "8%" of us who prefer rock over rap will more likely become the "50%" of rockers. In my school, if you like rap you're on the ghetto side. Maybe rock will take over, do you think so?

I've seen a 5% increase in kids at my school wearing Metallica shirts from the Death Magnetic tour, whatever name it was.
I've also seen an increase in AC/DC shirts.
The revolution is indeed coming.
I blame the music games.

Well, yes and no.
In my neck of the woods (Alabama), most blacks are very stereotypical, so rap will always be with them. Most preps listen to whatever is on the top 50 on the radio, but then a good 30-50% of my school listen to rock in some form, even if it is nickleback. A lot more people are listening to harder rock then they used to, so hopefully it does come back.

DJ Hero will crash and burn: i mean, how many "gangstas" will be walkin' around school saying they just got done on DJ Hero, lol.
we had a list they played while we waited for the 2,500 of us to come in. i was there before any classes came in, because my teacher had to set up. it started off soft, and as more people came in, it got hard. hese aren't in order.

then people started headbanging and getting into the music, didn't matter if they were black or white, we all were in the mosh pit beating each other up, and just having fun. then there was an air guitar battle, i came in second place, then the live band played, and we all fell asleep. it was fun.

At my school, it's mostly Hollister shirts. I can't stand it. I mostly wear Red Sox shirts but I do wear some shirts about rock/metal/blues artists. Some others wear Metallica shirts which I also don't like because I think Metallica is grossly overrated.
My school is really horrible musically though. One time my history teacher mentioned Clapton and only three of us in the class knew who he was. I was astounded.

It seems somewhat unlikely but I would love for it to happen.
So I'll stay positive and vote possibly.

Yes. After buying GH3, couple of weeks later, my little brother, who listened to mostly rap and some random music, came to me, asking if could I put Iron Maiden tracks on his MP3 player.
*sniff* it made me feel like a proud father *sniff*

i still get made fun of from time to time, because i'm a black dude, in a thrash metal band, and i listen to only rock music. :/

Surprisingly, 6 of those songs are in Rock Band, and one more still is in GHWT. Coincidence?
Also, LOLSLIPKNOT.

And both are overrated.
The kids I know who wear shirts like that think Metallica = Greatest Metal Band EVAAR. They also think AC/DC = Greatest Rock Band EVAAR.

I think Rock music is just re-emerging from the underground.
I think this is due in large part to the music games.

Rock is slowly trickling back to the mainstream in my area, particularly Pink Floyd and Metallica, which seem to be the two most popular bands at my school right now.

I honestly have no idea. I never stopped listening to rock. But I could see it coming back. I think now that we have convenient recording technology and mp3 players and whatnot, and since live performances aren't the only way to hear music (as it was in the olden days, w/ classical), music is going to become more cyclical, but with something new every time we revisit a movement. Like, we're going to start hearing more 70's-esque hard rock throwbacks, or something.
I dunno, I'm just spitballing here.
