View Full Version : Possible reason NOT to call EA support...

I bought RB on the release date and within a few hours had the popular strum bar problem. I went online and filled out the info for a new guitar, including credit card info. A week went by and no movement so I gave them the benefit of the doubt with Thanksgiving. By last Friday I had nothing yet and had only Billing Information Received from UPS. Finally talked to them again today and the long and the short of it is that I essentially lost my place in line when I called to check on the new guitar. So I went from having my request made on 11/20 and jumped all the way out to 11/30! The guy I talked to said he wouldn't ding my credit card and that I didn't need to bother with sending the busted one back.
So I'm figuring I can either:
A) Try to fix my busted guitar once the new one shows up
B) Do my best Kurt Cobain impression on the busted one and smash it into a million pieces
C) Run down to GameStop and see if they'd swap me even up for a new GH guitar. That way I could play both games with two guitars!
I'm not trying to bash on EA. I think the game is pretty good, but the hardware is just unaccepatble.

So are you saying NOT to call EA support? Or call EA support and don't do it online? I'm just doing my research for when my guitar breaks. I'm at the 10 hour mark, and the time bomb is still ticking. It would be nice to be able to keep the old guit-fiddle even after it breaks, if there's any truth to that.

Maybe I should've given this thread a different name. I would recommend to anyone who feels like they've waited long enough for their guitar to show up to call EA and find out what is really going on. I'd say if it has been a week and all the UPS site tells you is Billing Information Received, you're screwed and need to make a phone call. You may get lied to, which I think I was, but I can deal with that so long as I get my guitar! I'll follow up once I get my guitar and don't see any charges to my credit card. I have a bad feeling I'm going to have to fight with them about the charges after I get the new guitar...

hm.. i'm having the same issue. my ea support page showed label printed and finally parts shipped late last week.. but no movement on my ups tracking page. now the support page says "Updated by EA" during the middle of night last night.. I have no idea what that means.. but it still looks like my guitar hasn't shipped yet. I got the free game email, which assured me that my guitar should've been shipped.. but i somehow doubt it'll be showing up any time soon.. i just can't be bothered to call EA at this point, as this is getting really silly.

Here's my latest update in this ongoing saga...
I've now made four or five calls to EA support about my busted guitar. I even had one of the customer service people say "At least you're getting good on the drums!" WTF? I finally got a new tracking number that shows the guitar has actually shipped and is in transit. Their express shipping took two days AFTER the famous Billing Information Received message first appeared on the UPS site. But the best part of all? My call that was logged in to the EA support site is now listed as Complete. Are you kidding me? I don't even have the guitar, lord only knows if it will work or even be for the right system, and no one at EA seemed to give a cr@p that I have now spent a quarter of my warranty period WITHOUT a working guitar! I'm absolutely heading straight to GameStop as soon as the guitar shows up to see if they'll swap me for a new GH X-Plorer controller. Of course, the people at GameStop will know that these instruments are total junk and will be smart enough not to swap me.
Worst. Customer. Service. Ever.

Well I ordered my replacement guitar and drumset 5 days ago December 1st.
Today I'm still on billing information recieved. So I call them up to complain. Turns out the first RMA rep didnt setup the rma for the drums(or if he did, he never gave me the second rma number + tracking number for the drums)
The rep told me that my guitar shipped yesterday. Although ups doesn't show any info, I know alot of people that work at ups hubs, and I constantly ship things via ups for my company. The minute it hits a truck it gets scanned. Still nothing. I'll give it untill monday to arrive, if it doesn't im raising hell.
No free game for me :(
Express shipping my ass
