Just curuios how many "Rock Band" players are going to pick up GH Metallica.......

The GH:WT engine is way too horrible for me to pay good money to use.

I'm going to get the free pedal for reserving at Gamestop that comes with PRE ORDERING Metallica :D

i am becasue they are one of my fav bands since childhood and the setlist is a damn good one IMO.

Would have preffered them as DLC for Rockband but ill take what i can get......i still prefer RB over GH anyday of the week though.

I might, but imagine what HMX could have done making a game about them.

HPLabonte
03-20-2009, 02:11 PM
Probably not, I'm not a fan of Metallica, and there are four songs I'd like to play in the game, and 2 of them are in the demo!

rental.

Maybe... depends if I keep my Xbox or not.

03-20-2009, 02:13 PM
I am.

Not the biggest Metallica fan but all of the songs I like from them(except Unforgiven II) are on the game and even the ones I do not like should be a blast to play judging from other Metallica songs on GH and Rock Band. I am planning on preordering it sometime today or tomorrow.

I could go into some long diatribe that explains why I have made the decision I have...but I'll just get to the point; not even if it was bought for me.

Yes (mainly for Slayer and Mercyful Fate).

I'll see what kind of achievements it has and if I think they could be fun I'll give it a rental.

Otherwise I'll play the demo, get my fill, and delete it just as quickly.

Skr33
03-20-2009, 02:20 PM
Yeah, I'm actually going to pre-order it either today or tomorrow.

I'm so excited for Expert +, and guitar should be awesome as well.

Not to mention I won't have to deal with RB2's ****ed lag calibration to play awesome drum songs.

jmohr1
03-20-2009, 02:39 PM
Can't deal with the way the GHWT engine deals with a band or singer in general, so probably not. I am however downloading the demo as I type this and you never know, it could sway me

I'm gonna check out the demo when I get home...

That will decide whether or not I rent it :-| Definitely not gonna purchase it though.

Go get the demo on XBL and most of you will change your mind.

The game UI for WT has been completely fixed, this is what they should've done at first, the game looks very good.

I barely have enough time for Rock Band as it is, I can't see myself getting another game, especially with the insane number of songs I can already play.

Cubecubed

i will, because i love meallica and also QUEENNNNNNN

I could go into some long diatribe that explains why I have made the decision I have...but I'll just get to the point; not even if it was bought for me.

Well duh..why would you buy it if it were bought for you?

I will likely get it and do like I did with the Aerosmith game (though Metallica has more to offer in a GH game in my opinion than Aerosmith) and play through things a couple times then pop RB2 back in.

Metallica is one of my favorite bands but I can't stand the Guitar hero setup. The quickplay menu is horrible and the gameplay is not all that great. I'm not sure if I am going to buy it until it comes out and see how it is. It might just be renter for me.

MoneyGoesInTheBank
03-20-2009, 04:06 PM
Yes, since I'm a Metallica/Slayer/Corrosion of Conformity/Suicidal Tendencies fan

First I have to get all the achievements in GH2 and 3, so I can trade them

Hanrahan89
03-20-2009, 04:11 PM
I'm not sure if I'm going to buy it yet. I'm going to rent it first I like Metallica and the set list for the other bands looks good. I liked GH2 and GH3 but I really didn't like GH:WT the online was terrible.

Apples
03-20-2009, 04:21 PM
10% of the setlist is already repeats anyway. About 20-25% of the setlist isn't interesting to me personally. Hard to justify a full game pricing with those numbers.

I'm just going to wait until the backchannel exclusivity deals expire so I can play Metallica on a better engine. Once this disc comes out, its going to be very hard for the competition to keep Metallica on the exclusivity payroll knowing that they've used up most of their best material.

LETHAL7
03-20-2009, 04:22 PM
I voted no since I'll be renting it. I love Metallica, but the whole GH engine and style choices really get to me. So this will be fun for a week or two, we'll see how I feel after I get around to playing the demo.

And for the comment I saw about the achievements:
http://www.xbox360achievements.org/game/guitar-hero-metallica/achievements/

They don't appear to be very difficult, but the secret achievements are still unknown.

Nope. Of all the mega-bands, they are probably my least favorite. Even if they do cover Killing Joke's The Wait. Badly.

Unfortunately this is a must purchase for me, I love Metallica and cannot wait to play these songs. Yes I will purchase them when they become available for download on RB. I just cant wait til then to play them. I'm weak!!!

BallisticJunkfood

I'm not a Metallica fan. I have no reason to get a game devoted to them.

I will probably fall into this Metallica trap that is Guitar Hero, if that's what you're asking. :D

"No" RockBandRocker typed, as the song Master of Puppets started playing in his iTunes library.

I might give it a rent, but that's about as far as I'll go.

The GH:WT engine is way too horrible for me to pay good money to use.

Before I tried the demo I thought it just looked bad. Now that I played I realized how bad it is. I would not keep this game in my house if you paid me.

I would not be able to stand ~30 Metallica songs. The four I already have are more than enough for me

Daemius
03-21-2009, 12:36 AM
Nope. Metallica bores me. Don't understand the appeal behind them, even though I'm a metal head for the most part.

i played the demo today and hated it. i havent played guitar hero in a long while, but the note charts still seem inferior to rock bands, the angle the notes were coming at seemed strange to me and threw me off alot, and the interface is terrible. maybe thats because ive gotten so used to rock band, but i dunno... the only saving grace for this game is that it has pretty much every metallica song you'd ever want in a game. i really wish harmonix had gotten metallica on board instead, because as much as i love the band, i just could not imagine this game being any worse based on my first impression.

HeavyHorse
03-21-2009, 01:05 AM
I do not like what Guitar Hero has become, but even I cannot deny the calls of all the metal on that game.

Guitar Hero Metallica will become the only Guitar Hero game I own.

I tried the demo today, and, no, I won't be getting it. I had a terrible time trying to calibrate my Ion to GHWT and hoped I'd have better luck with GH: Metallica. Either the calibration was still way off (couldn't calibrate in the demo) or the timing window is so different that I can't transition from RB to GH on drums.

I'm usually a really laid back player, but the demo nearly had me throwing my sticks at the TV in frustration.

My husband - who plays guitar/bass and is a huge Metallica fan - was also not impressed in the least with the demo.

thehunted616
03-21-2009, 01:33 AM
Rental for me as well.

I picked up the demo today just to play the drums, and my two favorite songs so far are the ones that aren't Metallica.

Runesmith
03-21-2009, 01:40 AM
Just going to rent it so far. I'm saving up for all the other great games coming out this year (Rock Band: The Beatles, Rock Band DLC, Dragon Age, The Sims 3, etc.), so if anything I'll wait until next year when I can buy a used copy on the cheap.

It's a pass for me. Played the demo, and the angle of the notes completely messed me up (the 3D nature of the notes make them appear closer together at the top of the chart for some reason; bad idea Neversoft), I couldn't tell what I was and was not hitting at times, and I genuinely just don't really care for Metallica.

estemshorn
03-21-2009, 02:34 AM
i am definitely buying it.

i love metallica, but i am saddened that this song (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y4gDfNNkPb0&feature=related) wasn't on there. they could've at least used it as a bonus track.

03-21-2009, 02:40 AM
I played the demo on the xbl marketplace (Queen song is AWESOME) and found it rather fun (Expert drums)
The bass note looks a lot better, and it just feels good.
Mind you, it is a lot like GH:WT, but GH:M looks to be a lot better.
I haven't seen BQP, or the other charts but drums are very fun, trust me.
So yes, I am buying it.

I'm not gettin it. Not cause I don't want it (it looks freaking awesome), but I'm trying to save money this year. I only have 15 bucks left so far.

Not even if it was the last game on earth....

....never was a Metallica fan.

No. I wasn't going to any ways. It was just what I expected. I did like the less sound it makes when you miss a note but that's about it. Sure would not say no to most these songs as DLC for RB. What a waste in my opinion.

TheClashTheClashTheClash

I am, either first day, or I'll pre-order online. I am not a huge Metallica fan to be honest, but I do like some of their radio hits (e.g. Nothing Else Matters, King Nothing) and some of the third party songs (Tuesday's Gone, Turn The Page, The Boys are Back in Town). Also I really love both RB and GH, more music is good, and I like supporting the franchises.

I think I'll be passing on this one.

I didn't buy the Aerosmith game or the handheld games either so this won't be the first time I pass on a Guitar Hero game. GH3 and World Tour left a bad taste in my mouth. I don't think that this game will be much of an improvement if it runs on the same engine, even if they tweaked it.

I also have so many songs to play in RB2 that even if I bought it I wouldn't play it any longer than it took to beat it, and I lost interest in World Tour before I even reached that point. It isn't worth $60 to me.

Edit: I also would like to mention that the setlist for the game is pretty good. It isn't Metallica themselves that prevent me from wanting this game, but rather Activision and Neversoft. If HMX decided to release more Metallica DLC I'd probably buy it (depending on the song).

Meatwad555

The demo didn't impress me much, but I will still be getting it.

Not too sure yet but man that setlist is tempting.

03-21-2009, 01:26 PM
I've never really been a big enough fan of Metallic to buy GH:M. Also, I don't like all these spin-offs that the Guitar Hero franchise has been doing (nor do I specifically endorse the Beatles Rock Band spin-off, though I'll be buying that).

RedBaron45
03-21-2009, 01:35 PM
No, specific band games seem like the songs would get stale quickly. I do like the double bass mode though.

I will when it goes down to $20.

droz84
03-23-2009, 12:02 PM
Yes, only because I'm a big fan of Metallica. That and despite the fact Rock Band already have two of my favorite songs of theirs available as DLC (Blackened and ...And Justice For All). I hear there's a difficulty level a step above Expert; I can only imagine how insanely hard that's gonna be.
