View Full Version : I give up! Seriously!

This is going back to Wal-Mart.

I received the replacement drum kit and it did not include the bass pedal (which was also broken). I'm not waiting another 2 weeks for a bass pedal. I'm moving on Friday! My guitar still hasn't shown up after 13 days. I'll take my refund from Wal-Mart and buy it again in a few months when the hardware problems are addressed.

That sucks. But considering they have 2 different options. One to return the drumset and one to return the pedal, it's obvious that they are handled separately.

I fell for ya but I mean you won't wait 2 weeks for a replacement(likely won't be that long since they've started shippng a lot of replacements now). But you will wait a few monthes to play it again?

While my pedal wasn't broken, my replacement kit came today without a pedal. So that must be standard operating procedure.

I'm going to blow a gasket. I called them TWICE confirming that I would not have to open a separate RMA for my broken drum pedal. AAAAAAHAHAHHAAHAHAHAHAH
My set arrives today....but I guess I still won't be playing drums. Un-f&%king believable.

That's wierd. I didn't have a problem with my original pedal, but they included one with my new drum pads. I thought they just sent out a whole new set to those that reported having damaged pads.

My guess is, by now they're running out of kick pedals.

I'm really pretty blown away how bad this has gotten. Just FYI, I hadn't planned on posting again (I gave up last week and returned my kit to the retailer), but this is too good not to share. I WAS waiting on replacement drums. I tried to cancel the replacement, and the EA rep told me that I could simply return the replacement part when it arrives and I would not be charged. Seemed simple enough... I told my wife to keep an eye out for a big box from UPS, and to reject the shipment.

UPS arrived today. They handed my wife a legal-sized envelope. Thinking it was (obviously) not the replacement drums, she accepted the shipment. Inside? Two drumsticks. Unbelievable, and only slightly less infuriating than the guy who got an empty box. It's funny to me ONLY because I did the right thing and already returned this mess to the store. I had better not be charged on my card for this, but I'll dutifully send them back their 'sticks. Had I actually been relying on them for the drum replacement, MAN would I be angry. I feel for all of you who are still waiting.

The smart move here is to wait for the Rev. B or C peripherals, after all the problems are gone. Really unfortunate for HMX...

UPDATE: just in case you think I wasn't clear about my drum problems, EA's confirmation e-mails clearly show that I was having problems with the pads. From one of them:

---------------------------------------------------------------
XBOX 360 - Rock Band - Drums' yellow pad is not working after playing it for about 2hrs.

Just for reference, here's my original post from last week:

I rarely register for forums and I only did so here so I can voice my complete disappointment with my purchase of Rock Band. Here's my story... I talked the game up with friends, waited for it, and eagerly put my $170 down. Worked fine for about 2 days, then the yellow pad on the drums crapped out ? I was able to verify that it was a poor connection to the piezo sensor (bad solder connection), which I was able to fix myself (temporarily) by gently moving the wire connected to the sensor. Didn't matter, though ? a day later the blue pad died, and no such luck in identifying the problem. Most likely it would require removing the sensor to re-solder, which I am unwilling to do (voiding my warranty).

Okay, no problem. Bad stuff happens. So I (optimistically) called EA to arrange for a replacement, and was happy when I was told that they would 2-day ship out a replacement with a ~$100.00 hold on my credit card. Despite missing several planned game parties with friends, 2 business days didn't seem too bad ? that's a very good and very fair replacement program. However, here it is, over 5 business days later, and UPS still shows no package received (basically, a shipping label was printed but I am SOL).

I love HMX and their games, they are superior to GH3 in almost every regard ? but these peripherals are ?awful?. It IS the holiday season, and I've already missed several key opportunities to play the game with friends at Thanksgiving and since (I have 2 X-plorer guitars and can play the guitar/singing parts, but I bought this for the drums primarily). From reading these forums I have no real hope that the replacements being sent out right now are improved in any meaningful way. I've also experienced the audio lag problems mentioned in a couple of the threads here.

I am going to try to take this back to the retailer, and unless you are a much more optimistic person than me, I'd suggest you try to do the same if you are having these problems. A 60 day warranty isn't enough. When (if?) my replacement drums arrive, I'll be sending them right back. I tried to call EA support to request it be cancelled but was disconnected (within the voice mail system) 6 times in a row.

When there has been a meaningful revision to the peripherals, which I have no doubt there will be, I'll be right there to re-purchase Rock Band. :/ It is a terrific game, but QC should have caught these peripheral issues first; the fact that those pink "STOP - don't return" slips were in the packaging only reinforces my belief that these were shipped to stores with some knowledge of the manufacturing flaws. It sucks because I truly think that this is a platform that (when working) provides more fun than I've ever had playing video games. I hope HMX/MTV/EA can weather this storm, and has the sense to at least consider a recall. Perhaps I'm actually in the minority, and most folks' peripherals are fine. I'm broad-minded enough to concede that it might be the case. However, I can only imagine the bad PR storm which would result if a significant number of these RB bundles are defective when opened at Christmas.

Hear hear. I'm absolutely fed up as well.

If this third guitar I ordered isn't absolutely flawless, I'm done with this game. Part of me is expecting EA to screw up yet again, and rather than sending me a new guitar, they send me a cheeseburger.

Dumb question guys, but I am curious.

I know that alot of places will not allow you to return open games for a refund. So exactly how are you guys getting your money back since you have opened the actual game?

You dont need to be an engineer to repair the pedal.
there are many fast cheap repair solutions out there, a trip to the hardware store and a drill is all you would need.

Sucks, I know, but better than not playing and whining about it.
