Welcome to Day 61, Band 9, of the Fantasy All-Star Rock Band Challenge!
Congrats to Primus' LES CLAYPOOL, who joins the band on bass!
Now, since this is a grunge band, keyboards are pretty much right out. (Yeah, that makes two straight weeks without a keyboardist --- hard to find work in this economy these days, yanno.) I thought about just skipping ahead to songwriter and making this a 4-man band, but I thought that, in honor of Tuesday's big release from grunge's finest 5-man band, I'll go ahead and do the rhythm guitar thing again.
So....add a RHYTHM GUITARIST to the band!
May not select from the retired band members list:
Robert Plant
Jeff Beck
Bill Ward
Jack Bruce
Ray Manzarek
Rob Halford

This is a grunge band how? Dave Navarro didn't play grunge and Dave Grohl's wasn't really a grunge musician, either.

Um....Nirvana wasn't grunge?
And yeah, it's not entirely grunge, but it fits together as a pretty believable early 90s alt supergroup, IMHO.

Considering the only one that fell into the alt crowd during his career was Navarro, yeah; this isn't a alt supergroup. Yes, Nirvana was grunge; but Dave was the most tame and normal out of Nirvana's members. Krist was a punk bassist and Kurt adored punk, metal and noise rock. So it all blended nicely. Blahblahblah.
But yeah the Claypool/Navarro grouping wouldn't work. They aren't compatible, imo.

I understand, and I may or may not disagree with you (that was diplomacy, there). But that's why this threadgame is a democracy; if the majority says Claypool & Navarro work just fine with Ed and Grohl, then that's what we go with.
Personally, I see the band evolving an interesting mix of styles -- grunge, alt, and bits of funk and punk. The Peppers meet Pearl Jam sort of thing: it could work.

Blah. This is why I hate these threads, they are never done seriously / how I want them to be done. Lol.

Well, this isn't the Music According to Gowienczyk thread, unfortunately. ;)

I agree with Gowie on this one, quite the odd mixing of musicians. It COULD work, but not quite as well as some of the others fantasy bands we've come up with. Les Claypool just adds that "lolwut" factor like none other.

FFFFFFFFFFFF. I missed the results of the drummer for this band, and I'm just putting it out there that Chamberlain is arguably a better drummer than Grohl. In my opinion.
