View Full Version : YAY I got my new guitar today! YAY I had to order another guitar today!

This is so frustrating.

After waiting and waiting, my new guitar finally arrived today. I was so happy.

After testing it out on a couple songs it became clear that this guitar is totally screwed up. The only way it will register upstrums is if you slam the strum hard, as high as it can go. Downstrums work fine, nice and sensitive.

This game has been hassle after hassle since I got it. Part of me just wants to say the hell with it and return it to the store.

Send it back and demand two working guitars.

Oddly, my replacement guitar arrived today, with the exact same issue. Returned it for downstrums, new guitar works great on the downstrum, but upstrums don't register. Exact same thing.

My guitar doesn't register the downstrums unless you strum super lightly. I can hear a piece rattling around inside of it also.

No, just RMA a @#$@# drumkit.. guitars will magically appear... hehehe

Got my replacement guitar today, same issue as described. Sem-broken upstrum is better than fully broken downstrum though. I think I'll wait a little bit before another RMA.

LOL maybe they are simply openning the guitar up turning the mechanism upside down and shipping them out again ;)

Interesting...I just got my replacement guitar and it has EXACTLY the same problem...downstrum is no problem but upstrum sucks...I did have a few weird problems too where neither direction would register for several seconds and then it would suddenly work again...

Long story, short I have another guitar coming soon (not shipped yet of course) so we'll see if it is any better than this one...I don't know if it is worth sending in for a replacement yet since it sounds like they are all like this...I'll be curious to hear about others' guitars as they show up...

Well, it's good to know I'm not the only one experiencing this.

Here's hoping third time's the charm.

Not to rub it in, but my replacement finally arrived today (I ordered it on the 21st) and it's Much better than the one I had before. Totally new feel to the strummer and so far it's rock solid. I wish the rest of you similar luck.

The upstrum is good for you, huh? That's actually good to hear...hope my 3rd is better as well...if not I'm just going to start fixing the damn thing myself...

Just got my replacement, and I'm tempted to replace my second guitar (had to buy two kits for the lan parties on campus :( ) but it works like a charm.

Both the original one and the replacements work the same but feel different when playing. Also the replacement has green stickers on the back with some numbers.

Be happy. At least they sent you the right guitar.

I specifically said PS3 in my RMA request at least 4 times. I open my RMA package and find a wired XBox 360 guitar.

my replacement guitar came in today (ps3 version) and it is leagues better than my previous guitar. star power actually works now, and strum bar registers all the time now (yay!). i hated the strat at first but that was becuase it was broken but when you get a working one the strum bar is like butter i don't know how else to describe it. just keep trying guys, eventually they will get rid of all the defective garbage and you'll get a good one.

My replacement guitar has the same problems with upstrums. It won't consistently register a strum unless the strum bar bangs against the plastic. I've been dealing with it for now, but since others have the same problem, I'll get another one once they release the $200 hold.

Don't they freakin test this crap or what!!!! I mean its gonna cost them a ton of money to replace these things over and over again. On top of that its gonna frustrate the hell out of all the customers. They could have given us real guitars and it would have cost them less over time.

PEOPLE!

This is unacceptable! This product needs to be RECALLED. I also waited almost two weeks for a replacement guitar (the strummer on the first one would not return to center). Finally got my replacement and it worked for about 40 minutes, now the yellow fret registers as down permanently.

I pre-ordered on Amazon and have long since thrown away the original packaging. I want to return this POS for a refund. It is not Amazon's fault that the manufacturer of this product sent it to market with numerous defects that had to be known (how else can you explain the Stop! do not return pink sheet in the box)

I think we should demand refunds directly from EA. Send me some boxes and I will send all this worthless crap back to you along with my receipt from Amazon.

Thoughts?

My replacement guitar does not work either. It gets stuck on down strumming. Basically, when you down strum it continues to register as down strumming even if you are not strumming.

On the original guitar, that came with the bundle, the strummer was not even connected to the guitar.

The stuff for this game is just absolute crapola.

My red drum was broke on the original drums. I got the replacements, which do seem better, but I can't fully test them because the bass pedal is in two pieces.

Just out of curiosity when you order the replacement did you say "all I want is a guitar with a working down strum?"

Same issue. Down strum is bad but not terrible, but up strum is very terrible. Overdrive sensor still doesn't work.

I guess I'm not alone.

My replacement guitar finally came today. It doesn't recognize when I tilt to deploy overdrive. This, after two weeks waiting for it and tracking it every three minutes. Now I'm going for my second replacement guitar.

So glad I waited at midnight for this thing.

Did the UPS tracker ever change its status during the delivery process? I've heard that UPS hasn't been updating their page because it is a lower priority than getting the stuff out. I have no idea if this is true or not. I only ask because I still have yet to get past the Billing Info Received stage. Naturally I'm pissed, and I wonder if I've been forgotten, even though they say the guitar is still on the way. Just wanted to know if anyone received their guitar without the UPS tracker changing its status.

i havent gotten past the billing info recieved stage either and they insist mine is still on the way as well. we'll see what happens.

on another note, i might not like the feel of the xplorer, but i have literally thrown that thing to the ground in frustration multiple times and it still works like a charm. i am afraid to have the rock band guitar even tip over if its leaning against a wall... thats pretty sad.

well, I finally recieved my replacement guitar yesterday! Let me tell you that it WORKS great! First of all, this doesn' feel like a crappy guitar demo station. This guitar feels SOLID. I feel like I can more accurately hit notes with this one. Thanks EA. You got this one right!

I'm to the point of wanting to return the game. A faulty mic out of the box, a guitar that lasted about 6hrs and a clunky set of Fisher-Price drums. I made my replacement order early on the 21st and nothing. My UPS info has said "Billing Information Received" for almost 2 weeks now. I got the email but nothing has changed, my UPS and EA info are still the same.

Heh, no. I returned through the online process with the complaint of broken strum bar. So, no issue with someone taking me too literally, this time at least.

I placed my online warranty order on 11/21 and just received my replacement guitar yesterday. It definitely feels alot sturdier, the strumbar is tighter and the fret buttons are more clicky. I haven't played all that much with it, but for now is a much much better product. My old one creaked alot like it could snap in half at anytime. Even though it sucked to wait so long, its nice to have the working one.

My guitar downstrum stopped working after a few days. I put in for a replacement (but I did the 2 day air shipping where I put in my credit card number to hold funds, which I will get back once my returned guitar gets to them) and had my guitar in 2 days.
Right away I could tell that while not as bad as my original, the downstrum still was not 100%. When there are a constant flow of notes, the guitar will not register every downstroke. My GH3 guitar works just fine (I used it to make sure it was the guitar failing and not me).
So something is seriously wrong with these guitars and I hope they get it resolved in the near future because aside from the hardware issues, Rock Band is a kick ass game.

Same exact issue, just RMA'd for my 2nd replacement guitar tonight. I hope the 3rd time is the charm. Love the game, but I'm not going try and replace my guitar every 3 days. If this one doesn't work I think it's going back to the store and I'll wait 6 months until they get it figure out.

When my guitar's strum bar stopped working, I opened up my guitar to look at what I can do to fix it. Upon looking at it, I realized that there really isn't anything i can do to fix it for the long run, it was just faulty due to design flaw (The metal contact model). When my replacement came, I noticed that the strum bar was tighter and the response was absolutely terrific, I had no problem going through songs on expert. I was very curious on what they had done to fix the strum bar so I opened mine up and took a peek. Apparently they had designed this model to use magnets to detect strumming. I absolutely love my current guitar, because unlike what my buddy got for his replacement (the plastic switch model) the strum bar feels tight, and since the detection of strumming requires no contact with another components (unlike the metal contact or the plastic switch), logically this should allow this model to last longer and possibly more consistent on continuous notes.

I also tested my buddy's replacement guitar, I also made it through expert without a problem, but the strum bar was just way to loose for my liking (it was kind of dangling), and it just looks like the plastic switch used in the strumming mechanism can break with intensive use.

Hopefully this would help some of you on the questions you may have about the new replacement guitars.
