Well I had it coming...after slacking on studying for my Software Engineering class...it's come down to the final week...I was going to use Rock Band this week as an incentive tool "If you study for 30 minutes then you get to play two songs..." bunch of bullcrap reasoning that I always do...

...and then...

This morning I got a meeting request at work, stating that they want to interview me next week for a position that can pay me $100k+ annually...and yup that sure convinced me to put RB down for a week and two days. I sadly called my wife and told her to lock up my RB drug where I can't get to it. I'm already going through withdrawals.

So that got me thinking...have any of you had your wife/husband/GF/BF/kids/yourself ground you from RB too...already? Even before Christmas?

At least I haven't grounded myself from the message boards :)

To be clear, I'm full of crap. I got all A's in my Soft. Eng. class and decided not to study for the final. Thought I knew the stuff well enough. Got a B as my final letter grade because I got a friggin 55 on the final.

Same here. They're too loud when people are trying to sleep.

Well, my wife bought it for me for Christmas. She refuses to let me open it until then, not even to ship it in to be replaced (I'm not taking the risk of it breaking after the warranty expires). Every now and then I sneak it out of the wrapping using a razor and some well placed tape......

But I do anticipate only being able to sing while she's not home. Drums are going to be questionable. Probably will wrap them up in foam. But I have convinced her to sing for me so I can do BWT without having to do it by myself. She knows NONE of the songs, though. So I downloaded and burned all the songs onto 3 CD's so she can get aquainted with them.:)

The key to all this is, you just gotta find your space and claim it. We cleaned out our garage this past weekend, and before she went and got any ideas of actually parking a car in it, I claimed it as practice space. The promise of no more plastic music gear littering her..I mean, our living room and a drastic reduction in noise levels made it easy to convince her. But hey, it's got a mini-fridge, mouse droppings, and the musty smell of mold and paint thinner. I'm just like a real garage band!

I considered something like this too, moving it all down to the (finished) basement where my real band's practice space is. But I just can't give up the 65" TV and 7.1 Surround Sound we have in the living room...

Plus I don't think I could handle the jibes from my bandmates when they showed up to practice and saw those plastic drums sitting in the corner ;)

Heheh, yah..."Man Cave" is actually how we've been referring to it since I claimed it as my own. I'm actively looking for some fake grass carpeting to lay down, a drum thone, mic stand, and various beer/gaming/sports related wall coverings on the mega-cheap/free. It's a bit sad how excited I am to have my 360 demoted from a 42 HDTV widescreen to a 36 inch SDTV, although the picture quality is still pretty good. And I found my old surround sound system that I hadn't been using, so the sound is actually better, so I guess it's a draw at least.

I'm in the clear thus far. My girlfriend's all about the drums, so no complaints there...

But the other night, my friend came over to rock out. We BLASTED my 5.1. We were playing Creep, and I coulda swore I heard my neighbor hollering to me from downstairs. Turns out on the master track for Creep, there's audio of some dude hollering in the background, which was coming from my rear speakers and throwing me off.

Goes to show ya, the power of surround sound can be manipulating at times.

Well, 24+ hours without playing Rock Band...I'm actually proud of myself.

...I came home to find the drumset still sitting in the corner...taunting me.

Sorry for all those who've been grounded by someone outside of yourself! My sympathies...but believe me it serves it's purpose later down the road when you're faced with either prepping up for a possible 6 figure job vs getting 5 stars on Blacken.
