Anyone else here like/care/excited about UT3 coming out on PS3?
I preordered mine, but have been worried about how the game will turn out..with the lack of online ps3 players...possible bugs(from developing on the ps3), etc
im sure most of my worries are misplaced, but still was hoping to guage the interest by others in this exciting looking game.

From what I've heard this game is going to be killer.
The guy (Mark Rein I think his name is) from Epic said the game is turning out better graphic-wise than Gears of War which they also made.
I know there will only be limited supplies but the Playstation online community is bigger than a person might think. There will also be people to play with.
Plus you can get modded things (maps, maybe?) from people who purchased the PC version. I have to read up more on that but PS3 people will be able to get things from PC people.
Plus the PS3 game supports keyboard and mouse support! How awesome is that?

Yeah it got bumped up with Haze and The Orange Box getting pushed into next year. It's only going to be available in limited supplies a la Rock Band on December 11th.

Well I'm probably getting both lol. I'm going to put the money I have on Haze and switch it over to UT3. Haze doesn't have a specified date but I'd imagine sometime in January. It's a tough decision.
Unreal is going to have great online but I don't know how strong the single player campaign is going to be.
Haze looks like an awesome single player campaign including 4 player co-op, and I'm not totally sure on the multiplayer.
On a side note, I think I'm going to trade in Guitar Hero 3 bundle this weekend before I go xmas shopping and see if I can get 40-50 dollars for it.

Well all of your guys positive thoughts are reassuring. I am still excited for it, I have been a fan of UT since god knows when. I even bought the (albiet very crappy) UT for ps2. Actually that port was what originally got me worried about this release. But seeing all the support Epic is bringing to make the game feel as fully featred as possible is a plus.
On the release date, yes it is coming out around the 10th. The limited supplies just means that stores will sell em as they get em. I dont think its a big deal though. In a month, plenty ppl should have the chance to buy the game.
Either way, i hope to see yall in the game (if i dont see you in rock band at the time that i ;)

Well, I just saw on Joystiq that The Orange Box is going to be released on the 11th as well. Apparently they cleaned up most of the frame rate issues.
But here is something funny. I just called my GameCrazy to move the 20 dollars I have on Haze and switch it over to The Orange Box. Except the money isn't on the game anymore. Apparently it was moved over to Rock Band and counted as more money towards that.
Now, I didn't pick up Rock Band myself. I sent someone in who knows nothing about video games and with plenty of money because I had hurt my neck.
Can they take money I have off a pre-ordered game and move it to something else when it's not needed?

I too am an oldschool UT player (99 was the best of them all) and I was pretty disappointed by the PC beta. However there is hope for the PS3 and (eventually) the 360 versions.
The PC version of UT3 is not doing well. The beta had a lot of problems, and none of them were fixed prior to release. The online player counts are pathetic for an Unreal Tournament game. So far it has been a big disappointment. A lot of players are saying that it feels "console-ized", so maybe Epic concentrated on the console versions at the expense of the PC version (traditionally their bread and butter, but most developers are treating the PC as an afterthought now, and Epic looks to be following suit) and the console versions will be better.

This is a lot of where my major concerns have been too. but i have to ask if a game for the console feels "consolized" is that really a bad thing?
i am prolly gonna buy the game and hang on to it without opening it, for a week or two and see what comes of the game. if it doesnt do well then i can always bring it back and pick up the awesome CoD4 or even uncharted :P
heck maybe ill pick up a couple of ps2 games freaking god of war II is down to $35 already! plus i never got the rock the 80s "expansion"...

Unreal is going to rule (PSN Zookey hit me up!)
ALL mods from the PC version (maps, characters, textures, animation, code and anything else) can be ported---so, a PS3, a copy of UT3 on both PS3 and PC means you have an indie Unreal 3 development kit for the PlayStation 3---major huh? You can literally mod the game into anything you want--you can make an RPG, a fighting game, a racing game---just have to work with some coders and create the right code, models, maps and animations---or you could start lite and just make custom characters and maps hehe!

yeah the modding has always been one of the best parts of the unreal franchise, and it is truly exciting to see them bring it to the console.
my only beef with it is you need to buy the pc copy of the game to actually use the mod making tools...makes me wonder if i should just buy the pc verswion and forgo the ps3 version altogether...if only it didnt seem like the ps3 version is actually going to be superior to the pc version......sigh, i hate indecisive moments like these :O

LOL yeah it would have been nice to have the mod kit--but still the PC version plus the PS3 version is a VERY tiny entry price into console development--hehe the rewards outweigh the benefits!!!

www.teamkaizengames.com ---LOL when it comes out it won't be free, but I am working on a game!!!! We are loosly playing with the idea of modding the Unreal 3 engine to make a tech demo of our game since we have direct access to all PS3 stuff, but nothing solid yet---either way I got UT3 paid off and am anxiously awaiting all the mods---had some cool ones back in the day for UT04--LOL it was one of the few PC games I ever got addicted to!
