View Full Version : I Have Terrible Luck

Copied and pasted from my Red vs. Blue journal.
"Last night my friends Jon, Brandon, Colin and I decided to take our hand at Rock Band's Endless Setlist.
The Endless Setlist is a set of 58 songs, all the songs on the game disc that you have to play one by one until you've completed them all. The thing is, there's no breaks between the songs, so the only break you get is if you push pause before the song starts.
Since my guitar decided to crap out and make me have to send it in, we had some instrument switches between songs. I was the primary drummer, Jon and Brandon switched back in forth for guitar with his Guitar Hero controller, and Colin was the singer. (Except for girl songs, Bon Jovi and The Rolling Stones, which I had to sing)
After hours and hours of playing we made it to Dani California (song 38). Brandon was shredding it out on guitar, Colin was pounding at the drums, I was singing my heart out and Jon was drunk. Colin, still being a somewhat beginner drummer missed the pads and hit the guide button. Him no wanting to stop his streak tried to hit the guide button with his drums, then accidentally hit the blue button or, sign out.
We got a message that said something along these lines. "This game cannot continue without the leader signed in." and we were taken to the main screen with 20 songs to go.
Bad luck, right? "

My drummer is playing on expert and still hits that damn button! We are currently crafting a "shield" big enough to slip a finger in there but cover it from accidental strikes. Probably a small, metal U bracket.

For as small as that guide button is, it sure is easy enough to hit when you're really thrashing around. I taped a plastic bottle cap from a Pepsi over the dumb thing.
Que mala suerte. :(

yeah, it tends to happen alot. personally i think it may have worked better if they put the guide button on the side or under the drums.

How about "controller dies and your guitarist strums down and hits green (as the song dictated) also returning you to the main screen"

I've never hit the middle section once. Granted, I just started hard, but I've never hit it.
Hope this doesn't happen when I take a stab at the Endless Setlist this weekend.

It's funny because whenever I play with a group, the UI inevitably gets screwed up because the drummer is banging on their shi<ttttt>t and unintentionally cancelling/selecting options.

Yeah, that is frustrating as all hell. That is why I like to stick with my band. I can't stand noobs!

Omg that frustrates me so much. My friend starts doing these drum rolls and fills in between songs and its going back and switching songs. I have to say dude......dude.......DUDE!! Then hes like "Oh ****" and finally stops. Its annoying as hell and he does it like 1/3 times were trying to pick a song.

Yes, exactly. Drummers need their UI priveleges revoked.

It constantly amazes me that I can miss an 8" pad yet consistently manage to accurately nail a button the size of a dime. Yet I keep doing it.
I'll be trying Endless Setlist this weekend with some friends, and I'll be on the drums. Thanks to your original post, I am now convinced I am going to ruin the whole thing, probably at the very end.
And you are appreciated around here. Some people's posts just show how badly the gene pool needs a good cleansing.

Could be worse, the OXM reviewers reset their setlist and lost the progress right before the very last song.

There are two ways you could've looked at that one kids comment about your signature either as a compliment or the way it seems like you did... Hope you weren't being serious.
But to add something to the original discussion, meh, it's not necessarily terrible luck... but rather an unfortunate event.
Anyways, you don't need anyone to make you "feel" intelligent and I'm more than sure you are an appreciated member of the forums, chill.

Being a kid isn't necessarily relative to your age. :p

Yikes...
My friends and I are going to take a stab at the endless setlist this weekend, I'll have to make sure that we do the "bottle cap over the guide button" trick.

I'll have to try that one too. I don't want to risk losing that far into it again.

Does this problem only affect 360 players?

Could be worse... I have all sorts of problems trying to get together 3 or 4 people for a band... let alone an expert-caliber band... let alone for a 6 hour marathon session. Too many scheduling conflicts, distractions, etc to get a marathon-level commitment going.
As awesome as BWT is, it sure can be a pain in the ass.
