Take me out to the ball game!
Take me out to the crowd!
Buy me a 4,800 calorie burger!
I don't care if...
...Hmn, can't find something that rhymes with 'burger...'
GRAND RAPIDS, MI -- Well, at least the salsa is low-cal. The West Michigan Whitecaps, a minor league baseball team, will be offering up major league cholesterol, carbohydrates and calories in an enormous hamburger being added to the menu this year at the Fifth Third Ballpark.
The 4-pound, $20 burger features five beef patties, five slices of cheese, nearly a cup of chili and liberal doses of salsa and corn chips, all on an 8-inch sesame-seed bun. That's a lot of dough!
The Grand Rapids Press reports that anyone who eats the entire 4,800-calorie behemoth in one sitting will receive a special T-shirt. Saner fans can divide it up with a pizza cutter and share.

Haven't actually been to a Whitecaps game in years, even though they're just up the road... (long enough that their stadium was called Old Kent Park then, before Old Kent Bank was bought by Fifth Third)

I have to see how big a 4lb burger is. I've seen a 1lb burger offered at a 4H fair and that sucker is pretty big.

4lb is the total weight... the beef itself is just under 2lb.

I wonder how my friend Vivek would feel about this...

That was my initial reaction as well. It kinda looks like somebody's eaten it once already.

Going by the name alone, it's at least a safe bet he won't eat it, and may be somewhat appalled by the concept...

Actually, we're not... haven't been for a couple of years. Australia took that honor from us.
America's obesity rates have pretty well held steady the past decade or so... the rest of the world is now catching up to us :)

I have trouble slicing a pizza with my pizza cutter... they must have really heavy duty ones at that stadium. Or maybe "pizza cutter" is local lingo for "chainsaw".

There's reasons for this... that we probably shouldn't get into on this board.
